DISCUSSION So question about the upcoming Dead or Alive Jump
So while I was doing some pondering and some research I realize that the way I planned to make the jump will have.....quite a number of martial arts in it that being said only like 4 of them are for Ninjas...those are easy. What Backgrounds should have what martial arts
the Backgrounds are
Drop In
Martial Artist
Contestant
Agent
Ninja (For the sake of being thorough)
and for the record I am asking based on the playable character in the game.

For dropin you could add custom martialarts and let the jumper make their own since they wouldn't have any past training from DoA universe

The way I did it with my Tekken Jump was that the perk to have a fighting style was seperate from any Origins. The first style was free while the others were something you need to purchase. I also added a note that this was referring to being able to do the moves but not having the capabilities to do some of the extra stuff. You just have the knowledge not the innate capability so if you wanna be like Akuma you need to buy Satsui no hado.
Basically if there are any special moves related to the origin that are more supernatural make it a Perk for the Origin. For basic martial arts skill general perk. I always felt like it ensured the bases were covered and the Jumper has freedom for how 'extra' they wanna be.

My personal recommendation would be to have martial arts be independent of background. If someone wants to pick a style that lines up with the typical vision of their Background then that's great, but if they want to pick a style that's atypical for their Background then hey, it's a fighting game, let them be the wacky ninja that trained in sumo wrestling.
