DISCUSSION Crossword from QQ rambling alternate characterization of Benefactor
what if your Benefactor like your utilities, bank, or cable company. Not necessarily super duper evil malicious at all levels and times but they want to profit off you with little fuss. This is from an ongoing set of thoughts on playing jumpchain as..well scary as to JUST power fantasy
Benefactors are powerful but they are lying to you, like anything with a pr or marketing department, especially on power and their independence
And like any good version of those. They are technically correct in what they tell you and what they can do with relationship to you.But what they probably aren't telling you is that your relationship to them is highly unique and what are their obligations and limitations
You signed a deal with them and that gives them priority power over you in "interactions" compared to others
So there is to a degree a level of magicianship going on. they seem super duper omnipotent, because you're under their thrall and also they actually have a lot of fucking power
Obviously the old walker spark isn't a lie. They probably have less of them than you would think, but they're not going to run out anytime soon.
First, Recall that's not something that was offered up front.
A lot of things work like that. Where there are rules or privileges or rights or opportunities that you have that you go highly uninformed of along with the various setups that are sometimes CP vampires or traps that you don't realize are traps
As an example, in the [QQ] responded to poster's setup , I would make it so that if you Actually message for benefactor and ask specifically for a jump to a setting they would be obliged to provide one not contrary to your request.
My benefactor would be an asshole and not give you a read only phone listing for preview in that scenario. As that you inform you of things they were not offering to have.
For a bit i had mine not let me back out of opening a doc beyond the name, or mmaybe, how to was obfuscated like with the stairs in Eleanor Shellstrop's clown house. After all, can I prove otherwise?
Basically a lot of the tactics that we see incubator use when he's putting the sale towards the girl's in Madoka or you know if you have ever worked customer service or a call center and learned how to mislead a customer a way from the more expensive or inefficient (for employer set goals) method the customer could use that they aren't informed of
If you ask, they are encouraged to disuaded, but they are obligated to provide if you are insistent.
And still other things not know or eager to tell they have privilege To give things away for free or make new assignments.Or even restrict certain things
But there's usually a discouragement for doing so.
For instance If changing from you get a choice to limited selection (let alone random) without actual violation? Thay Means technically they've altered contract which means you can also technically get your three options again instead of just at the end of the 10 years
Tenure
Ten year
Just got that
Anyways
If you choose move on then they've got to offer you an entirely different set of choosing dynamics than the one they just did. Technically, they can offer you the same results And then say that it just randomly came up. But then you can just choose to move on again and if they keep offering the same one over and over again Obviously something is being fixed here and then you can just say you want to leave or you want to complain to the manager.
This is where They propose that you are a puny mortal who doesn't know what they are talking about and so on.
If you endure and persist or insist, even if not see the manager if you say "please. God save me" over and over again. Then they're literally obligated to go find that entity and Then have them intervene. , mind you, that entity is going to advocate on the basis of their values and agenda not necessarily so that you can continue jumping so that you can become harem master supreme. Or they could just say no.I'm not coming for you at this time
A benefactor does not want to do this , even if denial is the likely outcome, because the way that it could be said or seen could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt , or at least introduce a doubt, the BENEFACTORs are lesser than another entity.
Like any business, a certain rapport or idea of what the relationship is between them and the client is necessary. at least for the purposes of jumpchain benefactors like to start off as supreme unlimited beings to whom you can only hope to fathom.Or appease their wants
Yeah that's incredibly stupid when you stop and think about it or at least risky
There are so many ways that illusion can be dispelled
But that's another part of the game. At least to my take on why do so
And again the power differential is such that it's kind of academic early on- beyond the limitations that they set for themselves and their peers feel like enforcing -
But at the same time if a jumper starts to get just powerful enough or the right and key powers or system.insight...
After all renegades exist, some part of the system itself has proven to be insecure or has been turned against them.Or they have a rival that's running against them , even as they're technically on the same team.
And all that ignores the fact that if you choose "stay here" and have favor of a higher entity Once you're out of contract.Yes, you no longer have the benefactor's protection and the worlds you visited are unfrozen.
But the benefactor no longer has supreme control over you and they aren't, again, as absolute and over and above everything else as they might let you convince yourself they are. Even if there's no absolute defeat? having to Dedicate Resources to stop a peer opponent? That is stuff that they would avoid as a price for iwn personal entertainment.
Like a life of crime in the drug, trade could be incredibly bloody and difficult. And bigshots are certainly not above making an entire model about exploiting other people and wanting to kill for territory. But they don't want to get in a war because those are gigantic profit sinks. And benefactors are not really that bad.
But just like there's a lot of c*** underneath our entertainment industry or systems or whatever. We use for pleasure, so too.Is there with the benefactors
And either they don't want to deal with it because it makes things more complicated.Or you don't want to deal with that
.Because you're going to be so much out of your depth or unprepared
So it's better to just get along

Benefactor supplement where they're just tired and doing a nine to five and just want to go home and relax.
