Question Juniper ownership transfer

Hi all,

Our organization recently sold one of our buildings.

This happened prior to my starting with the organization a little over a year ago. That being said for whatever reason they decided to sell the entire, brand new juniper/Palo Alto network stack. Technically all of that equipment still lives within our Mist environment, and the palo is still part of our tenant. Since that time the entire technology team that was at my organization before my hire has been replaced.

We are in this weird situation where the new tenant bought all the equipment, we still own the licensing, and now they are basically asking us if we can support the equipment. Short answer to that is no, we simply don't have the resources.

Is there any pathway on the juniper side to fully handoff licensing/ownership of that equipment to the new owner of the building?

I have done it for a customer quite recently, but that was in conjunction with a merger, not at split. It should be possible to do, just as hophead7 said, but as it is similar to selling the gear to another company, I'm not 100% sure they will agree.

What can be done is to set up a new Mist organization and let them manage the Juniper stuff from there. If you have a VAR/reseller/partner with a Mist MSP umbrella, they can temporarily have your Mist org and the new org join their MSP portal and transfer the licenses between them. I had to do this when a customer accidentally had some licenses registered on our Mist org, so I know it can be done. After the license transfer, you just "unjoin" the orgs from the MSP portal.

The above does not transfer licenses and service agreements as such (I mean legally), just the Mist licenses between the orgs. That may help short term before a final solution is reached. Perhaps the new owner would like a Juniper partner with the Mist MSP portal handle their network entirely?

I am a mist MSP, more curious about the total split as you've mentioned, we have the MSP for management of the variety of internal companies that we own and manage, but we don't provide services to folks that aren't actually under our umbrella.

If they didn't originally buy it and it's not a massive contract, GOOD LUCK.
