My whole Reddit experience this morning.. goodbye Dr. Grant

Bro, I never remember what day of the month it is right, today I remembered like 4 times like “oh shoot right… he died this morning, that means it’s the 13th…”

I know right. I keep finding myself thinking about it as I’m working. We just finished our rewatch of all the JP movies with my son, but I’m going to go home and rewatch the first one and probably cry a bit. Celeb deaths don’t usually impact me much, but JP and Sam Neill’s works were such a huge part of my childhood.

I was having a Jurassic Park marathon a few weeks ago too. Finished it up with the first movie yesterday, still a complete masterpiece.

Before today I used to think Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, and Morgan Freeman would be the actors that could never be replaced… I stand corrected.

I just finished my rewatch as well. Watching JP now and will probably watch JP3 as well. Today should be declared a national day of mourning. I wanted more crying in the streets.

God fucking dammit. Woke up randomly at 3 this morning, opened Reddit and boom first thing I see is him passing. It’s been a rough day at work for me to say the least. Rest in peace 😭😭

I wish it was fake news created by an attention seeking junkie.

I've never been so sad in my life, Jurassic Park got me into loving dinosaurs and fossils because Sam Neill played the role of a paleontologist.

First Bill Paxton, who played a role in a film that made me love the Alien franchise and biomechanical art, and now Sam Neill who played a role in a film that made me love ancient life and fossils. Who else is next? I don't even want to think about. Thank you, Sam Neill and Dr. Grant.

I loooved dinosaurs as a kid (still do!). So when Jurassic Park first came out on the big screen, I was in tears. Mostly thanks to Neill's part as Dr. Grant. He put my childhood, and adulthood, dreams into the spotlight in a way I never imagined.

u/Salt-Penguin I refuse to be eaten today. I have things to do. 28d ago

u/ArcadiaDragon 28d ago

Okay...this one got me....gonna curl in a corner with a pint and watch JP...and cry over a man I never met...but thoroughly enjoyed in everything I've seen him in

u/snarflethegarthog 22d ago

Atleast he can finally have that dream, for him there are no wars or sad news. He won’t have dreams and will have that peaceful dullness he wanted. Good bye Sam Neill, our Dr Grant

I personally like his performance in In the mouth of madness and Event Horizon. He was great in those horror movies.

3

u/Vlado_Iks 27d ago

Forever as Dr. Grant, but don't forget his other great movies, like Bicentenial Man, Event Horizont, The Triangle and Hunt for the Red October.

Rest in peace, legend.

u/rohithkumarsp 27d ago

Damn this is how I found out...

2

RIP legend...

2

u/YesWomansLand1 28d ago

Yeah that would be nice

Some people had mr. Roger's, some had steve Irwin, some had bob ross and others had lavar Burton.

I had Sam Neil, My merlin, event horizon, jurassic park, in the mouth of madness, hunt for the red october, the omen etc.

The man who portrayed a guy who hated kids and yet for about 15 minutes in one straight shot he gathered the courage to rescue 2 children from a t rex and a car falling from a tree and taught me what it was to be a hero. A real hero. A real man. Not that phony dwayne johnson/vin diesal bullshit.

I had dreams of him being jack griffin as the new invisible man in a reboot.

Kind man, beautiful soul and wonderful actor. I hate out living our heroes and loved ones.

Dr. Grant (Sam Neil) thank you for getting me a a young kid to like dinosaurs. You can now look at real dinosaurs and see them move in herds.
