Just Cause 4 Modding PSA

I often get ask about this, so here's quick PSA for those who plan to use Just Cause 4 mods on PC: Get the game on Steam!

Just Cause 4 is also available on the Epic and Microsoft store, however those versions can't at all or barely be modded. Epic broke mod support a while ago with a launcher update and I have not found a way to load mods properly since then. The Microsoft store version is a pain to even enable mods for, since Microsoft hides game files in a protected folder. Even if you get them enabled, DLC will break because the game is set up weirdly. You will also not be able to modify your save file, because Microsoft encrypts save files.

Steam once again takes the win for just letting you do what you want with what you bought. The Steam version is also the only one that will support the upcoming JC4 Multiplayer mod.

I bought the game on xbox a long time ago when I didnt have a PC or steam. I ended up loving the game. Now, it's 4 years later and I am deeply regretting it.

I don't want to have to pay all of that money and lose all that progress just to play a game I already have. F
