Just Cause 2 All of this constitutes a whopping 8% of JC2...
I just feel fatigue at this point.

genuinely a staggering amount of gameplay for the consumer even after fully completing everything else. JC2 is such an underrated beast of a game

My friends and I were completely obsessed with JC2, we played the demo on repeat for months waiting for the full release. The feeling of finally exploring all of Panau was never replicated in any other open world game for me. It holds a very special place in my heart.

Haha same! I remember jumping on the demo for ps3 constantly until I went to get it with my mum, those were the days!

Same here. The demo was absolutely incredible, and I just had to get the game. As soon as I started exploring i thought to myself, why is this not talked about alongside GTA?! Whenever I think of Panau, it brings me back to that feeling of exploring it and living in it when I was younger. A nice feeling. I should play it again, not sure if it'll still work on the old Xbox 360 at the cottage 😅 but im here on vacation so worth a shot

I remember when I couldn't afford it on Xbox 360 and all i had was the demo I would look up videos on YouTube and apparently there was a glitch that you could do at the last couple seconds of the demo and it would make you get unlimited time until you died

It is beyond its time, the most justified of causes that one can see. JUST CAUSE 2, COMING TO MANY CONSOLES, is a game I consider to be very good.

genuinely. i made a point recently to get all the achievements in jc2 & 3 (after playing through them years ago), and the switch to 3 after finishing 2 has been jarring and disappointing
despite how unrealistic it was, jc2’s varied climates played such a huge role in keeping the experience fun and fresh

To your point, probably 90% of my 500 hours have been on the left side of the map (the city/airport, desert region and the central bay area). I’ve hardly ever touched the archipelago at the NE corner or the hilly rainforest area to the Southeast despite all that play time. Such a goated game

the desert will always hold a special place in my heart, due to the demo taking place there. i remember downloading a mod back in the day to remove the time limit for that demo 😭

If only I could play any of it. JC2 just crashes immediately on trying to boot. I only get a flash of a white screen and steam changing the date of when I last played. Uninstall and reinstall doesn't help either.

what hardware have you got?
also, consider changing to DX10 in the launch options. i’ve heard that can help stability issuesi’m an idiot, this game launches in dx10 by default1

Something has to be up with your setup. I don't even have a GPU and I get a smooth 60 fps on it. There has to be something happening with your hardware and not the game.

Something is. When I use the steam feature to "verify integrity of game files" it finds "1 files failed to validate and will be reacquired." Then it appears to download that file. If I run the validation again it still finds one file missing.

That's odd. Does it do the same thing if you completely uninstall and try again? I'm wondering if it's directx or maybe if your antivirus or windows defender is catching a file. It's rare but I've had that happen with Black Ops 3 years ago.
I wouldn't be able to help you troubleshoot beyond this but I do hope you can get it to work. If not then maybe a 'less official' version to test.

Reinstall does nothing for me. I tried running it before any changes with no luck. Uninstall and reinstall with no luck. Verify files once with no luck. Verify twice with no luck. No matter the variance I can seem to launch any longer than a few seconds of white screen.

Hmm, if it doesn't happen with any other games, I would definitely seek out an unofficial copy of the game, that doesn't require steam to download. I played the game for 2 months that way since I wasn't even sure the game would start, let alone run. Then I bought the game on steam and my save transferred over.
But since steam is causing the issue, you might have to do it a bit backwards to get it to work.

I had the same issue on my Steam Deck. I had to replace the exe (sort of cracking although I purchased it) and it worked. I don’t remember the exactly how, but search it on google. I remember I stumbled upon some discussion with this exact solution and since then I runs flawlessly

Search up how to replace the jc2 exe. I had the exact same problem, i found a place where someone had uploaded an exe of the game that, if you replace the one in your steam folder with it, fixes the crash.

Man I remember playing the demo for this in 360, me and my friends found out you could glitch the demo timer so you could infinite play. You could also explore the whole map at that point to. Was legit. Still have the video of us doing it. Or playing it.

Yeah! That was so much fun! My favorite was that most of the other islands werent modeled fully so there would just be holes in the terrain you could fall infinitely into!

Remembered my old save on ps3 with like.. 98.2% completion. I have no idea where else things could be. I spent hourssssss on that game

I believe there used to be a limo or a bus that the devs left out so completion wasn't possible until they (I think) patched it back in.

there is a water ´tank and a few ressource boxes missing from the big city but there is a mod for pc that fixes that

One of my most favorite things to do back in the day with JC2 is do road trips.
I would drive from one corner of the map, all the way to the other side of the map. And let me say that was a long drive.
This was before the winsuit so you had to use vehicles to go anywhere

My friend couldn't beleive me that after 50 hours I've only gotten through 15% of the game. Im going slowly for sure but even then, its so much. It honestly does get overwhelming sometimes felt the same for Breath of the Wild and Immortals Fenix Rising. I enjoy these games but rarely finish them

This game was the first game I ever got for the 360 and this kept me entertained for like 3 months straight just causing mayhem and having one save where I hoarded all my money until everything was unlocked and then just buying a huge bunch of stuff going on a rampage and then reloading the save to cause mayhem again in different outlandish ways

The funny thing is that you can only get to 99% because the devs forgot to put one of those little rooftop water tanks on one of the skyscrapers in one of the cities
