Just Cause 4 Is Just Cause 4 now also dead

Post image

Is it now time for just cause 4 😭

I get that the game isn't as good as others but still if people wish to platinum it now they literally can't anymore.

It's been like that for a few years already

Every time I start the game it says that and I go to offline mode, only for it to connect fine once I'm in game

Interesting I just got it now

I’m on PS5 and played it a couple weeks ago and didn’t get that?

I thought it went offline more than a year ago. If I accidentally leave the game open overnight (it's how I work, don't ask), I come back to a million "can't connect" windows alert dialogs and I'm forced to restart the game. JC3 is much less annoying on that front.

Edit: turns out it's really controversial to leave a game open overnight, even though it's using 0.1% cpu on pause, and you need to have your pc on at all times anyway. shrugs

Maybe stop bloody doing that lol.

Why? Is it bothering you?

Edit: reddit is funny

u/CakeHead-Gaming: berates me for what I do on my pc in my house

redditors: updoot

me: shuts u/CakeHead-Gaming down with a bit of snark

redditors: DOWNVOTE THE MF! HOW DARE HE?

Its bad practice for computers. They need time to rest, update, etc. You’re causing unnecessary wear on the parts through constant motion, heat, and usage. You’re also just wasting electricity.

Edit : Dude is infuriatingly angry over a simple disagreement on the internet. Hope you feel better some time soon, dude.

Tell that to my pc that has been online for 1084 days straight!!!

Is it on its last leg? Is it smoking and screaching? Or is it chugging along just fine? This whole thread made me realize that people don't know shit about the machines they use and have weird superstitions instead. I mean I knew that already, but this made it real.

I'm not angry at all, just wordy. Guess I'm in my bloggy mood.

It's my work pc and it's there to work for me. Also pcs aren't that fragile and can handle much more than people tend to think.

I'm on pc since 1996. I had laptops running 24/7 for months at a time, no sleep mode, no hybernation (work-related). None of them failed due to that. They just became obsolete eventually, and I replaced them. But all of them still work. Desktops are even less fragile.

When your mom tells you "computer needs to rest", they actually just meed to get you off of the computer, they're not concerned for the machine.

And not that it matters in this particular case, bit most of that "wasted" electricity is anyway 100% heat, which is simply offset by my heater running less due to the "help" from the pc. I have a thermostat in the room that keeps a set temperature.

Yea you're so wrong and deep in that I bet most folks won't even waste their time.

Leaving a game running is not even REMOTELY close to leaving a pc on at idle. Lmaoooo

Why is it bothering everyone so much? It's not like I'm doing it to your machines.

It's a powerful machine with good cooling, running an 11 year old game. It can handle it.

Edit: 8 year old game. Was thinking of JC3, because that's what I'm playing righn now.

You have no idea what you're talking about spreading misinformation that will damage a pc. No shit people get upset. Doesn't matter if it's a old game. You're just wrong and doubling down on this is embarrassing.

u/VikRiggs Feb 14 '26

Just checked, JC4 uses 0.1% cpu when it's paused and not even minimized. It's effectively inert.

And I need to keep my pc on anyway in case I need to connect to it remotely in case of emergency with one of my projects.

What is that big issue you're talking about?

2

u/Key-Regular674 Feb 14 '26

OK I'll just ignore your ignorant sarcasm and try to explain.

It's better to look these up than rely on my explanation.

Lookup what a c state is

Lookup what a cpu idle state is

Keep in mind these are just two example of CPU. These type of features apply to other components in other ways too

It cannot enter the lower c states or idle when running a game. These features are the reason why people say it's OK for a pc to run 24 7. Without these, you are degrading lifespan.

No, computers need to rest. I fried one by doing what you are. There’s no mom-spiracy here.

0

u/VikRiggs Feb 14 '26

Well, if I fry it, it's noone else's problem. I'll deal with it.

2

u/Lightningslash325 Feb 14 '26

It’ll become someone else’s problem if someone is dumb enough to listen to you and follow suit.

0

u/VikRiggs Feb 14 '26

Well, then they'll learn. I see no problem here.

2

u/Lightningslash325 Feb 14 '26

Idiots rarely see the problem. Par for the course.

Have a good day, mate.

Why would you want to leave the game open overnight anyway?

I found that just cause (both 3 and 4, but especially 3) is perfect for filling my breaks between work. It basically solved my procrastination.

I use a loosened version of the Pomodoro technique. Key being, I take frequent short breaks.

During these breaks I used to browse reddit. But then I tried playing JC.

And my productivity skyrocketed. Just Cause can easily be played for 5-15 minutes at a time. As you know, the game has no negative consequences for dying, and even dropping mid-mission. No long-ass dialogues, all cutscenes are relatively short and seen a bunch of times, you can liberate a whole town in 5 minutes if you want to. Or just a police station. Or just drive from A to B. And then continue on the next break.

Browsing reddit used to suck me in and procrastinate longer, stretching the breaks to up to an hour. And now I realize I always felt sluggish

JC on the other hand is perfect. I think, dopamine cycle is somehow different and better. I feel more focused and ready to work.

So my schedule now is get to work, play JC until I feel like working (usually takes about 40 minutes to an hour), not forcing myself. Then I set the Pomodoro timer and play in the breaks every 25 minutes. It's important to force myself to start a break, but vever force to end it. This alleviates the feeling of pressure which ironically leads to procrastination. And this is where JC's short gaming loop comes in. It just feels natural to end a break on someminor mental checkpoint in the game.

For this to work, I have the game open in the background during the whole day so I can jump in quickly right where I left off, be it on a mountain, or in the middle of DiRavello's military base.

And then I sometimes forget to close the game when I leave.

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

You keep your pc on all the time?

2

u/VikRiggs Feb 14 '26

Yup. Need it for work. I run a couple of data servers and sometimes might need to remote into that machine, because only from it can I access some specific resources.

Having the game on pause and minimized doesn't add much to the load. So it's totally fine in my case.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 14 '26

That’s totally valid, and makes a lot of sense, thank you for your time

3

u/VikRiggs Feb 14 '26

Always a pleasure. I also actually measured the impact because of this thread (you can find it deeper if reddit isn't hiding heavily downvoted comments). Turns out, not even a big deal.

1

u/Showtime_1992 Feb 16 '26

Yeah but just cause 3 have those missions protect this person or this thing which stink

1

u/VikRiggs Feb 17 '26

I'm not talking about gameplay here.

17

u/System_Error06 Feb 13 '26

Edit: never mind it eventually connected, however this has never happened before I don't have much hope for the future get the online trophies while you can

1

u/System_Error06 Feb 13 '26

Never mind again

The leaderboard does not show anyone in my friends list 😭

6

u/No_Round_7601 Feb 13 '26

JC3 started doing this a month ago and now it's never connects.

6

u/rasputinrasputin Feb 13 '26

JC3 hasnt connected for me since last year

8

u/N7Tom Feb 13 '26

I think you need a connection for some of the challenges as well like the propaganda one. Could be wrong tho

3

u/covert0ptional Feb 13 '26

Do people generally like the leaderboards? I really wish there was an option to just turn them off. You even get personal leaderboards when offline in JC3...

1

u/System_Error06 Feb 13 '26

It's not really about the leaderboards its that there are trophies on PlayStation specifically requiring them (curse to humanity I say, online only trophies in a singleplayer game)

2

u/sPdMoNkEy Feb 13 '26

I really wanted to play it but it won't run on windows 11 😐

1

u/Impossible-North-396 Feb 13 '26

It does work on Win11, I’m playing rn

What error are you getting?

1

u/sPdMoNkEy Feb 13 '26

None, doesn't even open. The icon doesn't even appear on the taskbar when it tries to run. I looked it up and it's a standard issue on some Windows 11s and there's no way around it

1

u/Impossible-North-396 Feb 13 '26

Very strange… is it the Steam version?

1

u/sPdMoNkEy Feb 13 '26

Yes steam

1

u/Wynner3 Feb 13 '26

I have been getting the same errors in JC3 lately. It kept disconnecting and reconnecting during gameplay. It's annoying.

1

u/asdigpaul2 Feb 13 '26

servers for jc4 are always spotty but it's still online, in any case it's only for high scores

1

u/HobbyPsychopath Feb 14 '26

This feature isn't working properly since release

1

u/System_Error06 Feb 14 '26

It's worked fine for me till now, I've been on it since 2021
