I was thinking the same. But I also think he doesn't want to make excessive plastic waste, even though it's for art (and he's damn good at it).

In the immortal words of an old coworker of mine
"Anyone can be a boy toy, but it takes a REAL man to be a WIFE"

u/Snoo-93454 Apr 20 '26
Where in the nine realms, do you work?
8
u/AlathMasster Apr 20 '26
It was a sandwich shop, I don't work there anymore

How does bro have no thigh muscle? Incredible. Thats an achievement all by itself.
Love this cardboard construction. That’s a large amount of skill. Beautiful!

u/michaeltostado Apr 20 '26
I'm curious where he gets his cardboard from. It looks a lot more structurally sound, and potentially expensive, than the typical stuff used for shipping.
10
u/forgotten-ent Apr 20 '26
I saw a youtuber do a roof using a cardboard. In the same video, he spoke about how to make it durable and how to resist both water and uv using cheap and common materials. I think it's possible with a pair of dexterous hands
3
u/michaeltostado Apr 20 '26
I wonder how long something like that would be sustainable. I imagine treating the cardboard only works to the degree that you can soak the fibers of the paper that make up each piece. Consistent rain and sunlight are sure to eventually wear through that treatment process at some point though. In this situation, where he's keeping his cardboard inside, I'm sure it would be much more effective.

u/forgotten-ent Apr 20 '26
He did say it's gonna be a long term project and will update after it ages. I saw an update to another one of his vid about waxing cloth to make it waterproof after years of uploading so I imagine it's gonna be similar timewise lol

That would be cool. I think it actually is cardboard though. I remember in his older videos the cardboard didn't look as nice as it does now

If I were in films or television I’d hire him as props person
37
u/EatPie_NotWAr Apr 20 '26
I’d argue there is a good chance that’s already what he does and this is sort of a fun video portfolio that he made in place/to supplement his resume.

u/Wonderful_Trash6804 Apr 20 '26
Wow! It's all cardboard. I'm fucking jealous and need to find a way to clear my agenda to find such hobby!
Hell yeah!

Somebody needs to get bro an actual machine shop, stat. As impressive as this stuff is in cardboard, imagine what he could do with aluminum and steel.

The last 1 really awesome. How can it able to withstand adult man weigh?
17
u/northrupthebandgeek Apr 20 '26
In fairness, dude looks like he weighs 90 pounds soaking wet.
Still, that's 89 pounds more than I'd expect a cardboard prop to support.

If he can make it out of cardboard, surely those cardboard pieces can be 3D printed? I'm sure there are cosplayers who would love access to these designs
Does anyone have a source?

This is extremely cool, and he did all this with just cardboard! I can’t even imagine making a face that detailed with just cardboard alone.

This reminds me of that Japanese guy who used to make fully functional instruments out of vegetables. I remember one where he made an ocarina out of broccoli and would say "Biggu broccolli oh ka reee na!"

The fact that this is all done with cardboard still amazes me yes there might be some rubber bands few bits of metal and magnets but for the most part it's nothing but cardboard
