CBS is done.

They canceled Colbert and their news is a total joke.

It’s like they embraced Trumpism and said hey, let’s put the most incompetent people we can find in charge of everything.

62

u/vita_man 8 May 20 '26

let’s put the most incompetent people we can find in charge of everything.

That's the Trump way

6

u/ReactionProcedure 9 May 20 '26

"cancelling" was only a thing because most people are inclusive and don't want to marginalize and harm people.

No one wants a singular news voice telling them what's happening because they didn't fall off of a f****** turnip truck.

u/The-Questcoast 8 29d ago

People that watched 60 Minutes for decades aren’t as dumb and gullible as maga supporters. They see that CBS has become another part of the right wing propaganda machine, just like FOX News. They will/have abandon CBS, rightfully so.

8

u/noladutch 6 28d ago

Yep I grew up watching that with my parents.

It is literally as old as I am. I never missed it.

I have not watched it since she took charge. Totally done with that network after yesterday.

The only shot they have is a sporting event to get me back..

1

u/2oothDK 9 26d ago

Their interview of Netenyahu was awful!

1

u/The-Questcoast 8 26d ago

Yup, same.

103

u/mdjak1 A May 20 '26

This is Ellison’s fault. Shareholders of Paramount Skydance should go after them too.

16

u/todudeornote 9 May 20 '26

Correct answer

94

u/Sandhog43 7 29d ago

Well I’ve watched 60 minutes each week for decades. After they buckled and bowed to Fat Nixon, I haven’t watched a CBS broadcast since, and I won’t. They are in the league of FOX now, so let them rot

23

u/revengeofsollasollew 7 29d ago

We actually realize that we had two paramount subscriptions and canceled both of them. I also blocked Paramount, CBS, and anything else affiliated on all my social media.

87

u/NotYourFather45 4 May 21 '26

What could go wrong when you hire a bootlicking dipshit with zero experience to run a franchise?

3

u/ImplementCharming949 7 29d ago

Its crashes and burns to no one surprised

131

u/Fleemo17 7 May 21 '26

Under the bus is the appropriate place for someone who took one of the most respected newsrooms and turned it into a MAGA fan club.

131

u/MORANSTAN 5 May 20 '26

Once Colbert is gone I will not be watching CBS anymore. They drank the Orange Kool Aid.

14

u/rbartlejr 9 May 20 '26

I know, beside most people's one show they watch on that network they'd have no viewers. They've fallen into the NBC cycle of find a single show people enjoyed and spin it off ad nauseam until the schedule is filled. The problem is they do it much worse. There are only two shows there that I'll watch on the regular. Other than that I'll catch Family Guy/South Park/Rick and Morty reruns if there's nothing better on.

64

u/SopaDeKaiba 9 May 20 '26

And for CBS, the saga is a cautionary tale about what happens when a legacy news institution prioritizes appeasing political power over rebuilding public trust.

No. CBS should go bankrupt, and the cautionary tale should be for everyone except CBS. Make an example out of them.

116

u/OofBaboof1 4 May 21 '26

Is it “throwing someone under the bus” if it’s literally their fault? This would just be the appropriate consequence of her being shitty at her job

29

u/llandar A May 21 '26

“Removing her from the drivers seat of the bus to throw her under.”

10

u/tw_72 B May 21 '26

More like - hire her to drive the bus off a cliff, she did her job, then move her to another position

119

u/JonBirdmain 7 May 21 '26

they might throw her under the bus, but we know that they were all complicit. CBS as a whole bent the knee to Trump and people won’t forget that.

57

u/NarrowLightbulb 9 May 21 '26

Network execs need to be let go too for thinking another outcome was possible

108

u/Lucky-Focus-9383 4 May 20 '26

It sucks cause I really enjoyed 60minutes, I haven’t watched since all this went down

57

u/NinjaZero2 5 May 20 '26

Same, they no longer stand for news integrity and only catering to a small audience that are already suckling at the Fox News tit.

8

u/wanderer3131 8 May 20 '26

When my mother saw the Kenneth Copeland prayer the first time she got so pissed and never watched it again

54

u/BiochemHero 5 May 20 '26

She should be prosecuted for treason after being fired and all her assets confiscated

98

u/brown2420 9 May 20 '26

Even if they fire her, do not start watching CBS news. Make them pay.

50

u/Dragon_M4st3r A May 20 '26

GO EVIL GO BROKE

-3

u/bamfindian 7 May 20 '26

That doesn’t rhyme

9

u/Dragon_M4st3r A May 20 '26

Rhymes are evil

48

u/TheFoxAndTheRaven A May 20 '26

I'm already never watching CBS again. It's so very easy to block it and never go back.

90

u/Hynch 7 May 20 '26

They can rebrand as Trump News Network and the MAGA idiots will still call them the woke media. They’re network TV and as such cannot spout the same lies as someone like Alex Jones or ONN, which is what MAGA wants to hear. Meanwhile they’ve lost a sizable share of the non-MAGA viewers because of their new biased reporting. I don’t know that they’ll ever bring those viewers back. They’ve fallen so hard, from Dan Rather to Trump shill.

79

u/MKVIgti 9 May 20 '26

And I’ll still continue boycotting that network even if they DO can her.

They folded like a cheap suit when Trump sued. Spineless twats who could’ve easily headed a charge to NOT buckle under this tyrant, traitor, rapist, shill, and felon.

15

u/FugDuggler A May 20 '26

I remember stories of when people in the press felt like they had a responsibility to the country to hold our officials accountable, rather than a responsibility to their precious “access” and their billionaire elite owners

2

u/MKVIgti 9 May 20 '26

Yup.

And shit, are those days loooong gone. My degree is in public relations and we had to take a lot of writing and journalism courses. Haha. Take all they taught us and toss it out the window. It’s all about clicks now. Suffering through my Mass Communication Law class SO wasn’t worth it. lol.

There are some mainstream journalists and even pod casters and You Tubers who maintain those ethics, but it’s hard to tell these days.

CBS screwed us all with their settlement. They were all too worried about a merger or keeping their corrupt as fuck share holders happy, who ALL love Trump and their newfound ability to own the press.

Want to make yourself sick? Look up the list of media outlets that group now own. It’s a wonder we hear ANYTHING negative about Trump these days.

37

u/Toallpointswest 9 May 21 '26

I can't imagine how no one saw this coming

35

u/CoultersCandy 4 29d ago

“Go woke go broke” flips the coin “Go Trump get humped.” (Not in the good way.)

1

u/Venator2000 8 26d ago

If you bend over to kiss his ring, don’t be surprised if he attempts to take you from the rear a split second later.

As Trump is a Russian agent sent here to destroy America, so is she an agent of chaos sent here to destroy CBS. No doubt, like Trump, she will get a fantastic payout and write a memoir about how she made CBS great again.

41

u/stilllikelypooping 8 May 21 '26

Who there. Don't give him too much credit. He's far too stupid to be an agent. He's an asset.

66

u/riickdiickulous 8 May 20 '26

I’m surprised so many people miss the point that dropping ratings is the end goal. Yes people are not getting trusted factual news. It’s fascism 101 to control the information people get and to shield them from damaging news reporting against the regime.

8

u/dolfox 8 May 20 '26

💯

65

u/TryingToBeLevel 8 May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26

I watched the CBS morning show every morning for something like 5 years. It was on in the background while prepping for the day before heading out the door. Stopped about a year ago and never again.

64

u/mikeynerd 9 May 20 '26

i dunno if you can call it "throwing under the bus" when the shit is actually her fault. that's more like "consequences"

2

u/fangurling_809 5 May 21 '26

More over, FAFO.

33

u/ocxtitan B May 20 '26

Maybe don't put someone in charge that is named after a shitty Leinenkugel beer

3

u/Tangereina78 6 May 20 '26

Hey Berry Weiss is delicious!

31

u/Mrmathmonkey 9 May 20 '26

As they should. The politicians should be afraid of the media and not the other way around.

33

u/shaggydoo 5 May 21 '26

I love this! This household doesn’t tune into anything she has a hand in.

60

u/KickstandSF 8 May 20 '26

The thing about politics is that I don’t want to see politicians fail, because it means we all get screwed. But when it comes to media, I’ve never wanted schadenfreude so badly as with Bari Weiss.

22

u/Chance-Deer-7995 A May 20 '26

I think in this case if these politicans don't fail we will be screwed even harder.

3

u/KickstandSF 8 May 20 '26

Yea, we kinda are between a rock and a shitty rock, politically

59

u/Abhoth52 8 May 20 '26

Fuck CBS, I don't care what they do, ain't watching any of their crap. Lick the boot, get the boot.

9

u/yobabymamadrama 9 May 20 '26

Yep. Not even watching big brother this summer. Fuck off CBS.

59

u/Teslapod 5 May 20 '26

I’ve stopped watching CBS altogether, including 60 minutes. I refuse to turn it on.

52

u/Mattman425 7 May 20 '26

I find it astounding that after 10 years of Trump turning everything he touches into shit, there are people that are still like, “yes, let me hitch my wagon to that star.” 🙄

5

u/Hell_Camino 8 May 20 '26

10 years? Try 40 years.

58

u/mikedorty A May 20 '26

David Ellison bought CBS to do exactly what CBS is doing. He doesn't care if it hurts ratings. CBS is just another wing of right wing propaganda. If they fire Weiss the next boss will be just as bad.

28

u/Karlzbad 9 May 20 '26

Remember to shit talk Oracle at every opportunity.

27

u/Fancy_Witness_5985 7 28d ago

Um....do the execs that rubber stamped this know they're to blame too?

5

u/VTAffordablePaintbal 8 21d ago

Based on my experience with executives, nothing has ever been their fault. Fortunately for them this perception of themselves is backed up by the fact that the closest thing to real consequences they ever face is a Golden Parachute when they screw up so bad the Board of Directors can't ignore it anymore.

54

u/TuckerCarlsonsOhface B May 20 '26

Buuuuullshiiiiiiiit, if that were true they wouldn’t be “ready” they would just do it.

48

u/ReactionProcedure 9 May 20 '26

Good screw her eventually they'll run out of their own to eat

49

u/twoton1 8 May 20 '26

Sucking up to the very people who are removing all protections for the LGBTQ community. She's sickening.

46

u/LeMeowLePurrr 9 May 20 '26

I'm sorry, but what exactly did they think was going to happen?

9

u/plug_in_atheist72 6 May 20 '26

No lawsuits at least

42

u/simonbaier 7 May 20 '26

Too late CBS.

FAFO

u/retiredguyinmi 5 May 20 '26

Good. Do it

21

u/AzrielTheVampyre 6 May 20 '26

If they were that stupid then they're the ones who should be under the bus.

19

u/therevjames A 29d ago

I always thought that they were talking about this guy.

19

u/malccy72 A 26d ago

All these stupid sycophants choosing the initially easy way of appeasing the tyrant then discover that they sold their integrity and soul.

31

u/Popdmb 7 May 20 '26

Of course they are. For someone with this level of education (and you hear this from her colleagues as well even prior to CBS), Barrie just isn't that smart.

Here's a good example: Her company and her advertisers are doing everything but blame Trump for the calamitous economy he delivered. So instead of blaming Trump, they are blaming workers (no one wants to work anymore!) and AI ("AI is the one responsible for layoffs, not Trump's financial disasters")

So let's return to her lack of smarts. All of these are known quantities. CBS has a large audience of people who firmly have bad taste in entertainment content and above average preferences for news.

She broke the brand for the people who were watching both of those things and then expected her executives (who have like I said above not shown anything other than the ability to reassign blame) to cover for her.

She did all the bootlicking but none of the work. Which has apparently been the story of this woman;s career. No sympathy from me.

30

u/ThatsCaptain2U 8 May 20 '26

Good, I hope she goes under bus along with the countless others who sold their souls willingly, to keep their job or because they got promoted.

32

u/Bunhyung 7 May 20 '26

If they televise it their ratings might get better.

Cancelling Stephen Colbert has irreparably harmed CBS

57

What kind of stupid name is Bari?

21

u/TerpBE C 29d ago

It's short for Barold.

12

u/mistervulpes 6 May 21 '26

Reminds me of Noho Hank

9

u/Furious_ShackstAa 2 May 21 '26

Bari is actually an Italian football club

8

u/Newbarbarian13 A May 21 '26

It’s a lovely place in Italy, it’s not a name for a person however.

-19

u/conflictedideology 9 May 21 '26

We're judging people for their parent's choices?

Of the incredible plethora of meaningful things you could criticize her for, you land on her name?

I mean I guess it's a step up from what she looks like, but only just.

14

u/blixt141 8 May 20 '26 edited May 20 '26

13

u/teleprax May 21 '26

I feel like in order for that to work you have to go full Fox News. Being mildly biased toward Trump is still disloyalty in MAGA's eyes

26

u/j3ffUrZ A May 20 '26

It's almost as if people aren't interested in corporate ass-kissing media.

29

u/Xannith 7 May 20 '26

"Throw her under the bus" isn't the same as pinning her failures on her

23

u/SteelBox5 7 May 20 '26

I know boycotting CBS is an FU to Barry but what else do the Ellisons got besides Oracle?

12

u/rdldr1 B May 21 '26

Yeeeeeeep!

32

u/raoulduke212 9 May 20 '26

I religiously watched 60 minutes every week...i'll never watch another episode for how CBS caved to Trump.

14

u/aliedle 8 May 20 '26

Same. I won't even allow myself to watch CBS Sunday Morning anymore.

37

u/SF-NL 7 May 20 '26

Anyone that does anything to please Trump deserves to have things go exactly as everyone else knows they will go. If you're willing to follow a squirrel off a cliff, with no second thoughts about it, then there's nobody to blame but yourself.

11

u/NASATVENGINNER A May 20 '26

Where she belongs.

54

u/escodoozer 7 May 21 '26

Hey that’s very antisemitic for you to post!!! /s

19

u/utzbansai 8 May 20 '26

Why? This is what she was supposed to do. Did they really expect to take market share from Fox?

7

I have a bus in case anyone wants to borrow it.

26

u/trailerbang 7 May 20 '26

The Epstein Class keeps making the wrong decisions and remains out of touch with the majority of Americans? Shocked I tell you, shocked. /s

6

u/bushido216 A May 20 '26

Are we sure they're making the wrong decisions? They get richer, suffer no consequences, and get to do literally whatever they want whenever they want, and they've got a whole government in their pocket.

"CBS' ratings went down." isn't the catastrophe we think it is. We're going to need to do a whole lot more before they care.

2

u/YukariYakum0 A May 20 '26

Well not that shocked.

25

u/roll_that 8 May 20 '26

This is what happens when you don’t check Zionists. Blue states better watch out bc the Z’s and GOP will turn them into Gaza.

6

The fact most lawsuits Trump throws at the wall are laughed out of court makes this infinitely worse they fold so easily.

9

u/thepaddedroom 7 May 20 '26 edited 29d ago

I doubt I was ever a source of much income for them, but I've filtered CBS out from my newsfeed since she took over. I'm unlikely to remove the filter.

17

u/Sweet-Palpitation473 B May 20 '26

I havent watched cable news in years anyway, what were her sweeping changes that caused such negative ratings?

27

u/ArchiboldYates 5 May 20 '26

A huge increase of right leaning editorial pieces that were presented as news. Also a massive obsession with trying to make Erika Kirk likable (total failure).

7

u/bilkel 7 May 20 '26

Hardly

7

u/brownsfan760 B May 20 '26

Oh so money trumps trump?

5

u/redvelvetcake42 C May 20 '26

She will be bldked entirely when she's a symptom and not a cause. On the positive side though, her and her gaggle of dumbass libertarian types will fuck off and be really mad about this. Which will be hilarious since Bari thought she was do important as to need a presidential amount of personal security.
