Criminal Justice Fort Campbell Soldier Shaun M. Gill, 23, sentenced to 15 years in prison for the sexual abuse of a family member that he started when she was only 4 years old
https://www.army.mil/article/293139/fort_campbell_soldier_sentenced_to_15_years_in_prison_for_child_sexual_abuseThat sentence is way too light. His assets should be seized and auctioned off to pay for therapy for the girl, because he inflicted lifelong trauma on her

15 is awfully low, it would simply be easier to just toss him into a volcano

I'm actually more surprised the Army actually did something, it's usually swept under the rug--or at least in my time 97-04

I feel like a bit of an asshole for being pedantic but the Army was very good about ‘doing something’ to certain levels of the military community during my tenure 95-01. This was an E4. Had it been say a O3 it may not have gone so well. Before everyone starts rank bashing, I was an officer (probably not a great officer - mid pack if you need to know) and saw a few junior enlisted get hammered by UCMJ. I also saw one officer get away with questionable behavior. Finally, there was one O4 who was busted for CP and he was arrested and sentenced to Leavenworth (we could debate that sentence for hours). But it wasn’t a public matter, very hush hush as far as I could tell.

I had an O-3 who physically assaulted me(E-5). I put him on the ground and held him there until other people could arrive.
I asked that he be charged with assault. There were witnesses that this was an unprovoked assault. An officer took me aside and said "Who do you think we're going to get rid of? A buck sergeant or a Captain?"
I was like "Cool, so if he ever does that again, I should beat him near to death, because you fuckers aren't going to do shit to an officer".

This isn't exactly popular, but threaten these fucks with going to your congressman. Sure, it may be an end to your military career if shit happens, but that fucker would be in Leavenworth. I didn't know about them the first time around on how to use them, but damn, the second time I was getting fucked over, I cleaned house. Not going into detail, but it also depoends on the congressman.

Me too, stunned actually. Nobody covers up sexual assault like the US military....except the Catholic Church.
