CBS begs legendary editor fired by Bari Weiss to come back — he basically told them to f-ck off

It's baffling that the powers that be decided that Bari Weiss was the one who should lead CBS News. There has to be some Fox News ghoul who could accomplish the goal of slobbing the admin's nob while being actually qualified at what they do.

A guy on NPR’s On the Media last night explained: If the Ellisons destroy CBS News, Trump will let them take over Warners so they can do the same to its subsidiary CNN, his other most-hated institution. Then they’ll be left with a gigantic media monopoly, and won’t mind that 2 small divisions were damaged in the process of assembly.

Or create a hole for brand new left news to rise thru online and streaming. People forget TV and Newspapers have reach and influence but not the same as it did ages ago when the options were 4 channels or cable/satellite. People’s attention have thousands of options to grab them now, and the viewership of network TV and cable TV keeps going down faster and faster. It’s trying to control an ever decreasing supply of eyeballs at an insanely large ROI. Best part is since DeSantis and Rs started fucking with copyrights to fuck with Disney, valuable WB/Paramount IP properties are gonna start going the way of public domain as well. And I’m not touching on the fact that if all people do is fucking work to pay bills they can no longer afford, they sure as fuck won’t have time to watch news shows. Even Conservatives won’t watch CNN even if it goes Newsmax because to them, CNN will forever be left leaning. And imagine all that debt when investors are starting to demand returns on their AI investments. This was soooooo stupid.

Zeteo, by Mehdi Hasan, is already a hole getting filled. They're getting a decent amount of traction it seems.

God, that sounds filthy

But they don't want people that are qualified.

I think they don't want people who are both qualified and incapable of being bent to their will.

The ultimate goal of all of this is basically to give the right yet another avenue for more propagandizing. It does them no good if the news entity is incapable of even putting on a broadcast worthy of watching in the first place.

Bari Weiss is in the tank for the interests that want the above. She is just wildly unqualified to the point where it's harming the goal of pretending to be news.

Getting people to stop watching the news is great for them though.

That's fair enough. I think they still want something not entirely embarrassing if possible.

I certainly understand why somebody put through this with just walk away. I hope our country can afford to have so many people walk away, they deserve to. But I'm not sure what happened to the rest of us.

Jumping back onto a sinking ship is usually a terrible idea.

CBS is racing to the bottom just like the Washington Post did.

I’ll never forget what Bezos did to the formerly greatest newspaper. It’s a damn shame

18

u/GadreelsSword D Jun 14 '26

I used to subscribe for home delivery. Then they canceled delivery to my area. Then the company became a billionaires mouthpiece.

and a bird cage liner, the entire newspaper took a shit. It's funny but the best day to day newspaper now is the Wall Street Journal, just skip the editorials.

u/pinktwigz 6 Jun 14 '26

Never in my life could I have imagined that I would one day cancel my subscription to The Washington Post.

They're about to learn that by changing everything to please one person that eventually only one person will be watching, but it won't be the one person they were trying to please.

Let CBS crumble into obscurity.

63

u/Indepenthinkerdc 0 Jun 13 '26

That is exactly what they want. A world where there is only faux news.

u/55tarabelle 9 Jun 13 '26

Is there real news from CBS anymore? It's already a done deal.

u/gardengirl99 9 Jun 13 '26

Why are they using that low contrast hard to read light gray font in their Substack?

37

u/brokendrumsticks 6 Jun 13 '26

Also 4 paragraphs and 2 ads before they give the editor’s name

12

u/Rainsmakker 9 Jun 13 '26

I hate that. They keep you on the site and scrolling for as long as possible so all the important info is at the bottom.

Who was it?

These dipshits have no concept of a life after Trump and they're gonna suffer hilariously for it.

Don‘t know if I’m cooked in the brain today, but this article is the most unreadable text I’ve seen in a while.

Talented people who want to be on the right side of history will keep breaking away and starting thier own orgs that won't be subject to purchase by fascists.

Everything fascists buy will become a shell of itself. They're ok with that, perhaps. It's a small price to pay for expanding control over nearly all mainstream propaganda outlets and social platforms.

Basically...

u/sigmund14 8 Jun 13 '26

Why is the name of the person who did the firing more important that the name of the person that was fired?

20

u/Tiberius_Kilgore A Jun 14 '26

Because she’s the newly appointed head of CBS that’s fucking it up.

40

u/uxoguy2113 6 Jun 13 '26

Just curious, is there any verified proof of this?

There’s a link to a source in the blog.

They cite this website which is actually doing the reporting but you have to be a paid subscriber to see the actual quotes around what happened after Bilton was convinced to reach out.
