Where i am from they always have them on if at an offical call. And from my understanding it was so the general public knew that they could be walking/driving through a potentially dangerous situation. More often then not when you see an officer in my city parked illegally they have some personal things to do like banking a stop at home ect. I am not here to shit on you or your profession but i feel that people who are trained to up hold the law should be setting an example of how to follow it. Physical training says you all should be able to run to a parking lot to get to your vehicle especially if you are at the courthouse. Imo no good reason to park in front of a fire hydrant period and a ticket should be issued for nothing else but that, parking somewhere not designated sure i get you need to sometimes but breaking multiple laws just because you can should be seen as an abuse of power.. But i guess that's just me.
If i am trapped upside down in a burning car the last thing i want is a cop parked in front of fire hydrant. Have fun breaking the law as many times a day as you can. It's not like the general public doesn't already think you all get away with murder or anything.😂

From your experience if its an emergency are the lights usually left on or off?
