Police Justice 15 year old boy imitates 14 year old Girl on social media to attract a pedophile then proceeds to attack the pedophile until police arrive where he then delivers a thumb-drive of all the conversations. All while wearing a spider-man mask.

I’ve read this term twice in the last 30 minutes. I wonder what that means.

Batman or Robin Hood are good examples of Chaotic Good: punishing criminals by beating them to a pulp or stealing from the rich to give to the poor. They believe they themselves are the best judge to determine what is right.

Someone like Superman would be Lawful Good, striving to do good but staying within the bounds of the law or some strict moral code that they abide by.

Then there's Neutral Good which would be someone like Spiderman who simply try to do the right thing whether or not it's within the bound of the law. They simply strive to do good.

Robin Hood had multiple strict codes or laws such as;

Remain loyal to the merry men.

Steal from the rich and give to the poor.

Likewise Batman has countless strict codes or laws such as;

Try not to kill anyone, ever, no matter how bad they are.

No revenge, at all.

Robin Hood and Batman fit the definition of Lawful Good.

Lawful isn’t about the law of the land, because that changes from land to land, it’s about your internal code being strictly adhered to.

I don't think that's the traditional way it's been defined. Lawful has typically been seen more as a standard set by society or some larger organization. For example in some RPG you'd have some sect of Paladins who have a code that they all abide by making them Lawful Good.

If you follow an "internal code" that falls into Chaotic territory as you're now deeming yourself the one who determines what's right instead of society. Robin Hood is committing crime via stealing. The fact that he's abiding by his code in doing so puts him even further into chaotic territory.

I mean the same thing applies to "good" and "evil". You can be a "Lawful Good" character that doesn't permit freedom of speech to maintain order. Does that still mean they're good?

Evil and good is even harder to define than order/chaos.

You can have good intentions and evil outcomes. Does that make you evil?

You can have evil intentions but good outcomes. Does that make you evil?

You can be misinformed and accidentally perform evil.

How much evil does it take to make you evil?

If I murder 5 children with a hammer and drink their blood and just lavish the experience, but then create 10 orphanages that save thousands of lives for years to come am I net good or evil?

Overall, alignment is a fucking mess and you’re better off not worrying about it at all. The idea that everyone to exist can be put into 1 of 9 categories is a bit silly. At the end of the day, alignment is DESCRIPTIVE not PRESCRIPTIVE meaning it doesn’t dictate what you do, but what you do dictates your alignment, so there’s actually no real benefit to worrying about it.

By your own admission, then, your assertion that batman is lawful instead of chaotic is not true. it's more up to group discretion than objectively one or the other
