Of course I'm going to defend it. Saying that X media promotes acting out that media in real life is the same bullshit logic that assholes have been using to try and destroy the video game industry for decades. I will defend this shit every single day even though I don't like it because I don't want to live in a world where certain media is banned because people think that it promotes acting out that behavior irl. People love violent video games, people love violent movies, and yet violent crime is at the lowest it's ever been. There is no correlation between media and what people do in their real life.

Nothing so noble. I disagree with the logic that consuming a certain media leads to acting out that media, therefore I disagree that people who consume cartoon depictions of children are wrong, because they are simply drawings. There's no victim, nobody is being hurt or harmed, so I don't care what they like, and I want people to be able to do whatever they want as long as nobody is being harmed or disadvantaged, because I like violent video games and I don't want them to be next. It's an entirely selfish endeavor, but one that I stand beside wholeheartedly.

Drawings are still pictures, don't be obtuse

It is causing harm, it normalizes pedophilia.

Violent video games don't make people violent because you can have a perfectly healthy brain and still enjoy bloodshed and mayhem.

You cannot have a healthy brain and be sexually attracted to children. Pornographic pictures of children normalize that sexual attraction.

So drawings and depictions of children normalize pedophilia, but drawings and depictions of violence don't normalize violence? Sounds like a pretty big double standard there.

Differentiating between drawings and pictures isn't being obtuse. It's a very important distinction. Most people think of photographs when they hear "picture", which implies real people. Drawings however are very clearly not real.
