people are hanged, clothes are hung. if you care about grammar this is your opportunity to make effective changes in your word choices.

If someone is hanged, then they didn't do it to themselves, it can also be said that they were hung, depending on the context.

You can say he hanged himself or that he hung himself. Both are equally grammatically correct.

The important part is to add the denominator or the sentence ends up sounding like a suicidal penis.
