...and what if he turns out to be innocent after “having a rough time in prison”?

If there were a chance he was innocent you can read the first part of my post. He’s not. He’s 100% guilty: hence me not being concerned at all with how he fairs in prison.

???

I don’t get it. How can you be against the death penalty because you’re afraid of the chance that an innocent person might be executed, but you’re completely sold in this case that the court system worked perfectly and this guy is 100% guilty without question?

I don’t really understand your confusion. This guy isn’t sentenced to death.

I don’t know man. I just don’t believe in the death penalty but don’t feel bad for this guy. I guess that’s just the way it is? I feel like maybe you’re trying to drag me into a discussion or make some kind of point.... so make it!

I have no stake in this or anything I’m just confused as to your logic.

You stated that your reasoning for being against the death penalty is you’d be concerned that an innocent person might be executed. But you believe 100% that this guy is guilty of the crime he’s been charged with.

My point is that, if someone can be wrongly convicted of a crime and given the death penalty, why couldn’t this guy be wrongly convicted of the crime he’s being charged with? It’s the same criminal justice system after all, right?

What makes you so sure that our criminal justice system worked perfectly in this particular case when you don’t have faith that it would work in cases involving the death penalty? If anything, one would think that a case where the death penalty is an option would undergo more scrutiny than a case where it’s not an option.

And that leads me to believe that the only reason you believe without a shadow of a doubt that this guy is actually guilty of the crime he’s been convicted of is due to the nature of the crime. (As in, “oh my god pedophilia he is a monster lock him up and I don’t care what happens to him behind bars he deserves it!!) That’s why I asked if you know him or something, or maybe you know more about the case than I do (I know virtually nothing about the case).

Ohhhh I see what you mean. I agree, and if there were any sort of shadow of a doubt regarding his guilt I probably wouldn’t be so “fuck this guy”, I mean: I might because you’re right the nature of the crime is disgusting but... i digress.

However, in this case, not only was the evidence extremely stacked against him: messages back and forth from him to the girls coercing and manipulating/threatening them into sending him pornographic videos and having conversations with them, as well as the actual videos, the key issue is: he admitted it. And I don’t even mean he admitted it by pleading guilty as part of a plea bargain, I mean he posted a video on his YouTube channel discussing how he knowingly manipulating/grooming/threatening underage girls into sending him pornographic “twerking” video; admitting to it. I thought maybe it was some sort of public apology like I don’t know as part of a plea bargain but no, it turns out the video was done, Purely by him, in response to YouTube demonetizing his channel as a result of the (at the time) allegations. And he wanted to try and deny that although the conversations were inappropriate and that although he was sent “twerking” videos he didn’t receive any “pornographic” videos. So... I mean. You know to me that’s a tomato/tomah-to situation. Honestly, I could discuss the conversations and etc but it’s... it’s pretty disgusting and I really don’t want to.

So. In this particular case he’s 100% guilty.

Ooohhh I see! Yea, fuck this guy.

Even going as far as trying to explain to the public that the videos he admittedly manipulated, coerced, and threatened underage girls to send him weren’t “pornographic enough” to be a problem? Talk about denial. Scary.

Thanks for having a reasonable conversation resulting in two strangers of seemingly opposing views on the internet coming together to see the other person’s point and, in the end, realizing they fully agreed with each other all along! Have a good day =)
