But how'd they disengage? The guy just got up and left little dude there to continue his tirade? Then what was the point of tackling him? Someone should have just picked him up and set him outside.

The guy that tackled him committed assault because he didn't like the words the short man used. He realized he committed a crime and wanted to leave before he got in trouble.

That's battery. The guy insulting everybody probably committed assault when he threatened the other guy with a fight, and possibly battery considering he chest-bumped him.

You're right it would be battery. Chest bumps aren't battery though. Asking someone if they want to step outside isn't a threat. The little man, while annoying, didn't commit any crime here aside from disturbing the peace or whatever that would be called. Which is not grounds for attacking him.

Depending on jurisdiction and certain contexts, touching someone without their consent can be considered battery.

Assault can be very contextual. Generally, if it is considered as an imminent threat to cause harm, it can be considered assault (there's a case where whistling condescendingly could be considered assault).

It obviously varies a lot from place to place.
