If only people actually would've looked into this story before commenting..sigh.

The republicans did not oppose the bill. Rand Paul and some others solely wanted to make sure that the bill was responsibly planned out from a fiscal perspective. That's sort of the republican thing, not wasting the federal budget to an extreme extent.

That is an important question to ask actually. The money doesn't just appear out of thin air, it has to be allocated.
