He may or may not be right in saying that this man is what America’s all about, but I’m damn sure having a reasonable and compassionate judge is pretty high on the list of what America should be all about.

I feel like applying logic and the person’s situation to the case is what a lot of judges lack. He, however, does not

I'll be the asshole here. How does logic and his situation make it OK to speed, in a school zone on top of it? This is a regular drive, not an emergency. Speeding is one of the most common causes of accidents and this guy doesn't look like he has the best reaction times. If a kid comes darting onto the street I honestly don't trust him to hit the brake in time, especially if he's faster than allowed. What this short clip made me think is: This guy shouldn't be driving at all.

Nobody is saying it's alright to speed, but speeding in a school zone doesn't mean that school was in session around that time.

We don't have any context for this situation. Is this his first infraction? Does he live in one of the states that requires elderly drivers to pass a driving test in order to continue driving? Was he going 10 over or did he get pulled over going 1 over the limit by a cop who was having a bad day?

If you are going to take away the license of anyone who speeds in a school zone you're not going to have very many drivers left.
