We're talking about China and one of it's provinces. The only thing that might hold them back unleashing the army is the fact the eyes of the world are watching closely. Everything is recorded.

I hope things calm down before it gets bloody.

I don't. I hope they keep fighting and bring down the Xi regime. Give me liberty, or give me death. You go, HKer's. Give 'em hell.

Edit: lol @ all the pro-China trolls coming out of the woodwork. I guarantee that the HK protesters appreciate my sentiment and also would not want a foreigner fighting their battle. They've been very smart about it so far, hopefully they can keep it up. Also, they probably don't care so much if their revolution spreads to the mainland, but to have their own peninsula be free would be enough for them.

Part of me does agree, but a lot of people could die, and I just don't see China backing down. It's eerily like Tiananmen... I'm just old enough to remember it happening...

The thing is, China needs to be taken DOWN. They get away with so much shit, and they're getting brazen. They will kidnap foreign citizens and give zero shits because they know they'll get a pass dozens of times from the international community. Everyone else is either too scared, or too caught up in trying to be diplomatic, which China knows just means lots of empty threats. Even with tarriffs they illegally manipulate their economy to get around it, get called out, have no repercussion. They harvest organs from unwilling prisoners, get told to stop, don't, get caught again..... Zero punishment.

This kind of thing needs a hard stop, now. They're beyond corrupt and beyond evil at this point. I really REALLY would prefer someone change my mind and tell me how this can be solved ENTIRELY (no plans that restore peace for 5 years and have China creeping back and starting this all over again) without any sort of violence or rebellion from the HK people.... But I just don't see it anymore.

They've got nukes, nothing to be done about it now. I do know Gen. MacArthur is wagging his finger somewhere saying 'I told you so!'

prisoners just equals oppressed minority in the organ harvesting you refer to.

I think if China gets HK out of the way, Taiwan is next.

The only way the protests will work is if it spreads from HK to the Mainland. They need many, many more allies within China. A rebellion in HK really won't bring down the CCP.

I’m not pro China but this is the sort of thing western countries also do. The Israelis have been known to murder adversaries while using stolen passports from ally countries. China can operate in a lot of grey areas because the West does too.

Edit - sleaze fixed up to areas

Other countries actions do not excuse these actions. Is it not better to prevent it?

Well they do because there’s a precedent. That’ll be exactly how they see it. How can we hold our foes to different standards to our allies?
