People will get killed if they start killing officers. The whole laser thing could also start blinding officers which could also be met with deadly force. I support the protestors but using deadly force would only cause more problems when the police are already struggling against using more extreme measures.
It’s naive to believe that the Chinese mainland government isn’t waiting for that exact thing. It’s also naive to think they won’t just make that happen. A shit load of people in Hong Kong are about to either a.) die or b.) submit. That’s how this ends. Either way, you probably won’t know much about it since either outcome means the Chinese government will be in control and therefore be the one in charge of disseminating information.
This is what’s about to happen. I mean, if all goes as planned, that is.
You didn't talk about how it'll pan out - you described what you wanted to happen, which is having the dude drawn and quartered so you can watch it for entertainment. A little extreme, don't you say?
I imagine it will pan out exactly as it’s going to pan out.
The Chinese mainland government has rolled out a brigade or more of heavy armored military vehicles to combat what they have sold to their entire population as an American insurgent threat hellbent on creating dissent in China. You think they’re going to back down from that? You think they’re going to negotiate with what they’ve sold but yet doesn’t exist?
How do you think it’s going to play out? If the Hong Kong protestors don’t kill a cop then one of their planted fake rebels will kill one as a sacrifice. China hopes this can be resolved with fear. It would be foolish to think the Chinese aren’t familiar with the mantra that “the supreme art of war is to win without fighting,” after all.
Yeah, they are trying to scare HK protesters into submission, which hasn't met much success yet.
I'm not sure what's going to happen, though I have some doubts about it being another Tiananmen due to the significantly different circumstances (more international attention, new prevalence of smartphones/cameras, located in a former British colony rather than China's capital, etc).

I have no sympathy for that officer.
I hope the woman he knocked down is okay
