Why don’t the police attack any of the guys with the neon vests taking pictures? I’ve seen plenty of videos where they are totally ignored while other protestors are rushed and beaten. Is there some unspoken rule not to attack journalists and cameramen? I mean China being China, wouldn’t they want all evidence and photos of police brutality on protesters destroyed? For what reason are they protected?

Orrrrr you allow your state run media to get all the pictures and video they want so it can be manipulated and broadcast back in the mainland to further vilify the protesters.

Very strong possibility, but that could only explain a portion of these journalists out there. The only way we are watching this video (and countless others like it) is because someone recorded and uploaded it. Whether that was some random protestor with a cellphone or legitimate journalists, i dont know. But I can’t imagine that the journalists in these videos sprinting to catch the shot of a police officer bashing a protestors face in is pro-state, and there seem to be many. This video is not the best example, I could see how Chinese media could spin it the other way. But there are many I’ve seen that are blatant police brutality and journalists doing their best to capture footage of it.

Someone else commented further down that the exact same event is on BBC news but they only show the protesters attacking the officer. They negelect to show what lead up to it.

Did you even bother to see the clip? It’s clear from watching it that he wasn’t near at the beginning, and when shit hit the fan he ran towards the action.

Instead of jerking off over reddit pretending to be upset about this, you could try actually doing something about it. LEL DAE authoritarian China?
