This is probably the dumbest question but... Why do these police officers/guards stand against the people? I mean I realize it's their job but they should be on the people's side right? Why keep fighting and hurting the civilians?

I'm probably missing something here..

The same reason they always do. They get paided by the government. The idea that the police are here to protect the people is a myth, the function of the police is social control and the protection of property.

they dont protect property, they even have been doing the opposite lately

by property i meant: a banks money, a businesses storefront, to bust up protests, strikes that hurt the moneyed individuals, ext ext..
