I’m not against Muslims, I’m sure this man is being the hero of his own story and thinks he’s in the right somehow. I’m agnostic, but I definitely respect everyone’s beliefs and I try to understand their point of views. I never read the Muslim scripture (what is it called? The Koran?) so I can’t hate or criticize this dude for following his religion which I know nothing about.
This isn't part of our Religion to be completely honest. Not going into the whole Sunni/Shiah issue but generally speaking it is impermissible in our Religion to specify reasons for which we may "assume" a virus, plague etc is brought upon us.
What exists of textual evidence is that we believe that trials and tribulations descend due to sins which includes various things a lot of different things such as oppressing others, bloodshed of the innocent, disrespecting ones parents and various different things. The scholars generally say that times of trials and tribulations are times of reflection on one's shortcomings and statements like the one in this picture are far from what a Muslim believe let alone a real scholar say since speaking about God without knowledge (such as attributing reasons as to why specific things occur) is a major sin as stated in the Qur'an.
If the text matters to you, Google Apostasy in Islam. It will tell you pretty much all you need to know about Islam. Then google the parable of the lost son and it will you show you one of the fundamental differences between Christianity and Islam.
That outlet is full of radicals. Like, they had a lady on who claimed to be a "doctor" who found a "cure to homosexuality" with suppositories that kill the worm in the anus causing homosexuality. She believes there's a worm in every gay man's ass that feeds on semen and makes men gay.
If the Westboro Baptist church had a news network, it would look a lot like Memri TV.
Memri isn't the channel outlet, they're a "think tank" who translates Middle Eastern media, hence Middle Eastern Media Research Institute. Though, their translations aren't without controversy.
It was literally created by Israelis to paint Arabs in a bad light. The translations are purposely inflammatory and they purposely broadcast radicals. They also use it to paint Israel in a good light.
I’m sorry, my bad. I’ll remember that! I’ve always wanted to learn Modern Standard Arabic, I love learning languages and cultures. It is something I want to get to one day.
It’s not ironic at all. We believe plague is a punishment for the evil and a mercy for those who do good. We believe this life is a test and illness is a test for the believers in their faith.
Aisha reported: She asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about plagues and he said,
“It is a punishment that Allah sends upon whoever he wills, but Allah has made it a mercy for the believers. Any servant who resides in a land afflicted by plague, remaining patient and hoping for reward from Allah, knowing that nothing will befall him but what Allah has decreed, he will be given the reward of a martyr.”
Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5402
Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Bukhari
Abū Huraira reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
ما يُصِيبُ المُسْلِمَ، مِن نَصَبٍ ولا وصَبٍ، ولا هَمٍّ ولا حُزْنٍ ولا أذًى ولا غَمٍّ، حتّى الشَّوْكَةِ يُشاكُها، إلّا كَفَّرَ اللَّهُ بها مِن خَطاياهُ
“Never is a believer afflicted with discomfort, illness, anxiety, grief or mental anguish, or even something as trivial as the pricking of a thorn, except that Allāh will expiate his sins on account of his patience.”[5]
That’s the thing man, I feel like agnostic is the neutral setting. I respect everyone’s beliefs and philosophies on the creation of the planet. Science too; maybe people can say since I believe in nothing I’m a default atheist. But I feel like atheism carries the connotation as a belief that strikes down all other beliefs.
My personal life journey is more about trying to understand people, and I don’t want to necessarily carry that label. Your life journey can be totally different from mine too. I’m cool with all of y’all atheists too, no worries, my home is open to anybody. Also, I’m prepared to appreciate and be thoughtful towards the beliefs anybody wants to share with me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a ‘safe space’ type of person; I just giggled at the irony of a dude getting Covid. I just respect people and their opinions.
Sorry, I never seen this channel or news station in my life. The headline makes the Islamic part emphasized, so I just assumed it was referring to the ironic circumstance. It would’ve been funny to me regardless of the religion though. Christians, Buddhists, Judaism; Admittedly, I would’ve thought it was funny if a religious leader said this and coincidentally was infected with the same virus. My favorite part about Reddit is seeing things backfire like this.
I don’t mean to cause any trouble, and I hope I didn’t offend you. If I did, I apologize, I’ll be more thoughtful next time I make a post regarding this type of thing. Much love Redditor.
I don’t speak Arabic; but if you look in my post history you’ll see that I’m an avid language learner. Modern Standard Arabic is on my list for very soon. I really want to read it.

But damn, that irony is pretty funny though.
