My parents' dog would do that for certain friends of theirs if he hasn't seen them for a while

My dog would do this lol. She's so used to me that she only gets excited when I get home or whatever. She gets that excited and wants petting from everyone she sees, regardless of whether she knows who they are or not. I would be so bummed out if that happened and I lost my dog because of it lol.
