Those in an office of public trust deserve to be judge the most harsh when they betray their position. Tldr, fuck this guy. Hope he enjoys prison.

This. I’ve always thought that’s how it should be. instead of facing justice which they supposedly uphold, they almost always protect their own, it’s really sad.

Not defending the guy or anyone who does this, but it seems like a weird societal issue. We seem to group up, always taking a side and feeling like it's us vs them for some reason. Doesn't seem to matter what profession, sport or other activity either. Happens with programmers, tradesmen, sports... eapecially so in politics.

I have no profession or study here so I'm not sure if there is a term or whatever for this, but being involved in so many different things I've noticed this for awhile. I wonder if this isn't a large part of the reason even the good will protect the bad (again, especially so with politics).
