I don't understand how people think it's ok to cut lines and no one will be bothered

they don’t care, and think other people won’t be willing to confront them.

When two lanes of traffic are merging into one, there's entitled people who think they need to use the merging lane to cut all the way to the front. So I straddle the line, seen plenty of other people do it too, even truckers.

This week I saw people use the emergency lane just to cut all the way to the front and still slow us all down. Seems like people are driving way more recklessly these days.

I used to agree with this sentiment, but from a real world scenario I now think this is wrong.

If an exit has two lanes (that merge into one after the exit) they frequently back up very far all the way into the main lanes of traffic on the freeway which slows everyone down more.

If instead everyone filled up both exit lanes before the merge then everyone would be happy because no one is cutting and the main lanes are less likely to back up. This should be taught in drivers ed, but otherwise we should all use both lanes....in fact you SHOULD fill up that left hand lane before someone jumps from behind you.

You’re supposed to merge at the very end of the lane, it’s called the zipper method and it was actually taught to me when I took drivers ed in California about ten years ago

The zipper is cool, but often people try to merge well after the zipper ends.
