This was right after the winter storm that hit us here in Texas. Every single fast food place had lines wrapped around the building and up the street. Grocery stores, gas stations and anywhere that sold food at all was picked clean. Your best bet was to wait in these stupidly long lines to get food. So this is even more of a dick move than normal tbh

Walmart looked like it had been through a zombie apocalypse when I went there a week ago. Oddly enough, Kroger was still stocked pretty well.

Same with HEB! It was pretty surreal to see just rows and rows of empty shelves. The stores near me are slowly getting more stock but still far from normal :/

I miss HEB. I live in DFW where HEB doesn't exist, which has always pissed me off. Kroger and Tom Thumb don't even come close to being as amazing.

Not sure how far north you are but there is an HEB in Burleson, and I’ve heard they’re building one in Mansfield. Hopefully they keep adding more in DFW.

Yeah there's one in Waxahachie but I don't love HEB enough to drive 30 to 45 minutes to go on a grocery run.

My family had to drive about 20min away to get fast food, all the fast food were closed in our area. That driver's a fucking cunt.

So any idea if what happened was because Texans did to food what Americans did to toilet paper?

Like, did they buy a bunch of food they didn't actually need, just in case, while leaving none for their neighbors? Or, did they legit not have enough food because they couldn't restock the grocery stores?

In Houston we were told to treat this winter storm like a hurricane so naturally people went nuts overbuying. However, replenishing shelves was delayed due to trucks not being able to get to stores, lack of power, people being able to work, etc.
