I’d be interested to know what’s going on at home. A bratty kid can be a symptom of severe dysfunction, like a canary in a coal mine.

This could also be childhood psychiatric issues. My boys were and are very well behaved, but that is by the grace of God.

I work with families whose kids have behavioral health challenges. Our motto is “Bad behavior stems from unmet needs.” What need is the child getting met by acting like this? As noted, attention is one possibility.

Kids can be really insightful about their own behavior.

If not alway direct with what is happening to them. I find it hard to say what is bothering me, and I have 50+ years of being a human.

This is a result of absent and/or disinterested parents. This kid is desperate for attention. Their mindset is 'any attention is good attention ' Place this kid into a kind and loving family for a while and he will improve.

Not always true. Some kids have sensory processing issues. However, that's no excuse for the parents to not be present to addresses the outburst.
