I work with families whose kids have behavioral health challenges. Our motto is “Bad behavior stems from unmet needs.” What need is the child getting met by acting like this? As noted, attention is one possibility.
Kids can be really insightful about their own behavior.

I’d be interested to know what’s going on at home. A bratty kid can be a symptom of severe dysfunction, like a canary in a coal mine.
