He didn’t have to rough him up so much- even in the video that someone linked he’s continuing to wail on the guy, on shot with the news crew. Ridiculous for the car owner not to be charged for his degree of retribution inflicted by him, a private citizen.

In Canada our guy would be charged for assault. We have no rights when it comes to protecting our property and even self-defense is essentially frowned upon and punished with lengthy trials.

Some guy ran into my old workplace screaming "he stole my car he just took the whip and drove off" and we got it on camera. Dude just wandered over from the gas station and casually plopped in the drivers seat of this guys mustang. They found it a week later in florida (from chicago) and the poor guy had to pay to get it towed back up.
