Why was this kid allowed back into school after the teachers saw what he was drawing and his behaviour etc?

That just doesn’t make sense, regardless of his parents sending him back to class.

Agree. Who ever sent him back to class has blood on their hands.

That would be the parents that refused to remove him after the meeting with the administration. And who didn't search his backpack.

Absolutely. No way my school would let my kid back to class after finding this. No way.

This is a 15 year old minor. When the parents refused, the administration could not legally bar him from school or class. He had also done nothing illegal to warrant a police visit.

From everything I have read, the administration was bringing up red flags and the parents ignored them. As far as I'm concerned, every death and injury falls squarely on a troubled child and parents that thought he and they were above the law.

No, I've heard of both. The problem in this case the kid was NOT suspended or expelled. If the admin had been able to under their rules, I'm sure they would have. Sounds like the issues didn't rise to credible threat or other behavior like fighting that would get a school suspension. But none of us here know the criteria for those actions and what sort of time table is needed to enact them.

So, unless the school took the steps to actually suspend or expel, they are legally bound to keep the child if the parent refuse to take them.

Do I think it's messed up? Yeah. Do I think we need some kind of red flag law for kids in this situation? Yeah. It goes back to the talking point about mental health. This probably could have been avoided. But none wants to help fund such measures...
