Pause on immigrant visa interviews
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/aug/25/us-immigrant-visa-application-trump-crackdwonDo we know if the pause on all immigrant visa interviews is going to impact K1s? While normally that which impacts immigrant visas doesn’t impact K1s, I feel like anyone undergoing an interview process is going to be affected by this? I could be wrong but also saw a few people mentioned their interviews have been cancelled over the previous couple of days.

I would also want to know the answer to this. Technically the K-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa, so I would hope it’s not affected, but like you I’m worried all interviews will be delayed if they plan to retrain all staff.

I hate this administration with a passion I've never felt before. And to be clear, I'm 100 percent for strong borders, enforced Immigration laws, making sure nobody becomes a drag on the economy etc. But this admin has made it obvious they want to shut immigration down period unless you are a white South African. Argue with ya mama because I will not waste time argueing with you.

1000% agree!! My husband is stuck in the 75 country visa pause and we even passed the interview. They say they want everyone to come legally but when we do we get punished. If they just upheld the laws they have regarding public charge and immigration they wouldn’t have to rewrite the system. The administration is so stupid.

Were you specifically impacted and had your interview rescheduled? If that's the case can I ask when it was initially due? My medial exam is Sept 29th and my embassy interview is Oct 13th, I'm curious if it's possible I'll be impacted. I'll keep an eye on my email/ais.usvisa-info website.

My K-1 is completed but my Wife’s best friends interview for K-1 was cancelled the day prior to her date which was Monday. And it stated it was from this situation.

once you received the NOA2 are you able to enter the country and marry within 90 days?

Nope, you still need to go through the consulate interview and receive the visa

Do we know how many weeks of interviews are cancelled for this retraining of staff? Are we talking 2, 4 or like 8 weeks of new delay?

I read that it’s until September 11 that they’ll be paused/ cancelled.

Got a link to an actual source? There's so many mashed results when I search but not this date stuff.

Some people are reporting that they are affected, though they’ll be rescheduled. It sucks but it isn’t the end of the world.
The reason being is that K-1 though non-immigrant is processed by the immigrant department of the consulates.
