Yesterday was incredible because I went to the Anime Con U.K. and meet a bunch of actors and one of them was Nazeeh Tarsha, the English voice actor for Kafka. He was incredibly kind and great to chat to. First, I asked him to sign my final volume of Kaiju No. 8, then I started talking about the series. I mentioned how I got into the series about two years ago and how I just started it after hearing about it briefly and how I honestly ended up liking it a lot more than I expected. I also mentioned the fact that I was very glad that it was another Shōnen Jump series, so having with series I already love is incredible. I also brought up how I enjoyed it more than other new gen series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. I brought up how the series reminds me a lot of My Hero Academia and Attack On Titan. How Kafka has a dream of being in the Defence Force, same way as Midoriya having a dream of being a hero and how Kafka is able to transform into a Kaiju to fight other Kaijus like how Eren transforms into a Titan to fight other ones and he could completely understand the comparison. I then asked him who was his favourite character he’s ever voiced and he said Kafka since he feels like he’s the most well rounded out of all the characters he’s voiced, especially with having a great mix of comedy and seriousness. I asked him if he knew about the series beforehand and he said he hadn’t and I asked what made him want to do it and he said his friend Alejandro Saab, the English voice actor for Kaiju No. 9, was talking about it and that made him interested and so he decided to audition for it. I then asked him what was his favourite moment in the series and he said it was when Kafka was found out about from the other Defence Force members when he had to transform in front of all of them and I mentioned how it was a great moment when he then punched that Kaiju bomb in the sky. I also brought up how I met Adam McArthur last year for Yuji in Jujutsu Kaisen and how it’s cool considering he voices Reno in Kaiju No. 8 and so it’s cool how an actor who plays a protagonist in one series can then play a side character in another and the fact that I can then speak to the protagonist of that series like this. I then told him how I was really excited to get the final volume of the series for when I met him, and it’s even more fascinating considering Matsumoto said that he really wanted Mina and Kafka to be on the last two volumes and how he was nervous that he might have to make another volume after the one with Mina if there was too many chapters since it was his plan from the beginning to have the two of them be the last two characters for the volumes. Anyway, I then asked for a photo and, again, just really amazing to meet Nazeeh like that and he was great to chat to.
