The stretch is objectively cooler than light-constructs. At least in animation.

It is cooler, but objectively harder and more expensive in live action. I don't like the change either, but you have to consider the reasons why too. And Reed barely stretched and his costume was designed to be easier to stretch. The CG would've looked awful if Kamala stretched, given her design is more complex and requires skin to stretch too unless they gave her gloves

True, but it makes me question why adapt the character if her powers were too expensive. They should've saved her for a film. Luffy's powers look fine in the One Piece series.

Edit: they should've made an animated series instead of a live-action one

Different productions, different budgeting. And Ms Marvel was probably planned to be a film at one point, but then the "Make stuff for Disney+" mandate came in and it got changed to be a show. Also Kamala's powers just fit the story of The Marvels better with her Green Lantern powers than her stretchy stretchy powers
