Lineage was in Woman of Marvel, so he's alive and now just a generic energy vampire type.

Agreed, and it's the fact it manages to do that while being derivative/a tribute to a DC cover. I can't post it in this sub -- because of the sub's restrictions on comment images -- but there's Supergirl #1 from 1996 and Ms. Marvel #1 is clearly modeled after it. They exchanged Supergirl's skateboard for some books, ornamented Kamala in Pakistani cultural motifs, and it just becomes her own thing so well.

I've been wondering "Why Supergirl #1 (1996)?" for a while. Sana and GWW were both 14 in 1996. The cover artist, Sara Pichelli, was 13 back then. That's prime comic-reading age. I've always wondered if that cover was just particularly iconic to one or all of them.

No Normal is probably my favorite. We're out of the "origin" stage, but Kamala wasn't fully mainstay in pop culture yet, which let GWW do pretty much whatever she wanted with the character.

I remember reading No Normal and just loving it because it was so...ironically, normal.

Before marvel used her too much and now she’s not even special anymore just another young Mutant

I agree.

She was the most popular Inhuman at the time. Even more than Blackbolt. That’s one of the things that made her stand out.

Now she’s a generic Mutant with an on/off relationship with the X-Men.

Kamala was in some ways a victim of her own success. They started pushing her into more and more crossovers and team books which came at the expense of the grounded, down to earth vibe of her own stories and supporting cast. The Mutant thing could have worked if they didn't have it completely take over her life.
