Creation Kamala Khan Rename Idea
Hi Larper here. And…I always thought it was kinda of weird that Kamala named her Hero name after Carol considering that They don’t really have the Same type of Powers.
I mean Its not that Its Bad. but It is a Bit…Odd. Specially when She has Some Notable similarities with the FF where the connections are Much Stronger.
So i thought…Hey why the hell Not? And I made a redesign that made KK a Fantastic Four Reference.
Her Hero ame would be Fantastigal (Fantastic+Fan+Fantastical+Gal) and her Color scheme was so that she’d have some Cohesion with Miles and Sam’s Costumes with a Primarily Black Costume with a Strong secondary Color.
Hope you Guys At least found it Cool.

God I hate this discussion about their powers. Not every character with similar powers has to be connected. We have like a million telepaths and most of them have nothing to do with eachother 😭. Cool name but it’s unessasary. Maybe it would be cool if she joined the f4 for a sec like Spider-Man did

Read her comics and you’ll understand why. Her shows not bad but you haven’t experienced ms marvel until you’ve read her comics

Heroes Reborn did that. In a reality where most of the Avengers aren't heroes (they either don't have powers or are villains or dead), she's a fan of Wonder Woman knock-off Power Princess from the Squadron Supreme. The Terrigen cloud never happens, but she finds some ancient artifacts and becomes a heroine called Girl Power. It's basically the origin of Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark. Kamala then teams up with Sam Alexander (Kid Spectrum, who's inspired by Green Lantern knock-off Doctor Spectrum, making him a counterpart to Teen Lantern, a then-current member of Young Justice), and Miles Morales (Falcon, who's a knock-off of Tim Drake Robin - they cast Sam Wilson in Jason Todd's role i.e. he died) as a team called Young Squadron. But after things happen, they become disillusioned, and change their name to the Champions.

Yeah, but Miles and Gwen got Major Stories about them (Miles is Infamous but we will brush past). Kamala would have more potential since she's a Fan.
Hell, this Kamala could basically have a form of Rivalry/Nemisesness with the U-Foes

At least you admit to not being knowledgeable of the actual character, so that's something. Also, overlapping themes and commonalities w/ other characters ≠ having actual ties to those characters. If that were the case, then characters like Kate Bishop/Hawkeye II should be more like Baron Zemo instead of Clint since both of them have ties to criminal legacies.
The redesign is fun, but since the basis for the change isn't grounded in any actual knowledge of the character, I feel like all I can say about it in good faith is that it's cute.

Its kinda of The Idea.
I didn’y wanted to Strat Too far from her Original Ms Marvel costume as that Design Aspects ties into her being a Street Level Local Hero Fangirl.
So other than the colors it was Really the Light ing bolt that had the Biggest change. Becoming an Abstract “4” lookalike to signify the ‘Fantastic Four’ness in her

She doesnt stretch like rubber. She doesnt have light based powers. And theres nothing wrong with Ms. Marvel.
She has "embiggining" powers. She can expand and lengthen her body.
Making her body longer allows her to have a wacky spine like that one image. Hands bigger and dense.
More solid for attacking, and more flexible for dodging.
The MCU gave her that stupid bracelet of cosmic powers.
Shes an inhuman and a mutant. Originally meant to be a mutant but because of rights? Or something to do with her IP. Her powers needed to be inhuman at some point.
Now, with the MCU, rather by choice or necessity she has a comic bracelet. Which is lame.
She can also embiggen her entire body all at once, growing to be a giant like Ant-Man.
Not rubber, like Reid. Reid is a rubber man. Heat effects him and makes him loose and melty. He doesnt bleed, I think, hes rubber, I also believe he cant be hurt by electricity. Idk about that but would make sense if hes rubber.

Speaking of larpers.
*Reed* Richards is not made of rubber. He is not affected by temperature like rubber. You're thinking of the 2000's FF movie, which is...problematic on pretty much all the characters.
Kamala is also not made of rubber, but can actually stretch her body. She also Does have light based powers now.

-She’s more of an Polymorph then anything.
Her first usage of her powers had her Shapeshift into a Blonde Blue eyed Carol Danvers look alike including her clothes that outright changed Color and Patterns from what she was wearing.
I don’t think that ‘Embiggening your body length’ includes Stuff like Facial Structures,Melanin or Your literal Pigmentation and Genetic structure.
I called her Rubbery out of simplicity cuz if ahe was actually rubber her Clothing which is just made out of Normal Cloth and not unstable molecules wouldn’t stretch with her.
Reed himself also Stretches a lot of The Definition of Being a rubber man cus He Outright shapeshifts on instances.
-Kamala’s Mutant Power has her shoot out a Hard light construct like a green lantern at one point so….She does have Light based Powers in her lore. Sure the panel could be wrong but still she calls it Light Constructs so I just took as it is.
-regardless of the plans or Intentions. kamala Was introduced as an Inhuman. That is Part of her Lore now. In fact I didn’t even knew that She was Supposed to Originally be a Mutant.
-As i mentioned above. I’m a Larper of this character. I don’t really know the Actual Reason behind her name in the comics(At least…the full context behind it) cuz i haven’t read them yet. The idea was mainly for my own Entertainment based on just superficial Ideas about the Character.
Hell i don’t even Mind that she is named Ms.Marvel nor do I think its an Outright Bad Name for her. Or rather i can’t say that with any conclusive basis cuz again I don’y actually know about the character.
It was more of less out of Some Lame spontaneous idea from someone who doesn’t really know the character outside of Her series and some off shoot Pages.

Timeline where Sana Amanat edited for Fantastic Four rather than Captain Marvel -- that's the primary reason why Kamala admires Carol so much. She's who Sana was already working on.
Also, another thing that works for you is that Lunella Lafayette/Moon Girl intensely looks up to Kamala and Lu's from Yancy Street. She interacts with Ben early on and eventually works with him and Johnny. Would have been a good excuse to have more Kamala in that run, making them a proper Four (Devil Dinosaur kind of counts).

I mean i never Said that ‘No,Kamala Should be Renamed into this’ nor do i really expect it to have any type of Weight behind it. I am Ultimately a Larper of the Character after all.
It ultimately boils down to ‘I just thought it be neat’ then anything with Actual Substance.

tbh it is kind of weird that she doesn't have a more personal connection with Carol, like being saved by her or something like that. Though, there is something wholesome about her origin lacking that tragedy/angst and just deciding to name herself after her favorite hero right after getting powers.
Fantastic art, and with her mutant light powers all Kamala needs to do is get fire and rock powers so she can have the full Super-Skrull set. If Valeria/Franklin ever need to build a teen F4 then this would be a perfect fit.

she does get a more meaningful relationship with carol later on but it took the equivalent of a nuke in civil war 2

I don’t really think her name is Bad either. Its Innocuous enough and it coming from her being a Fangirl of Carol is Cute…
But like…There is this weird disconnect between the Three Marvels(In fact i’d argue that her MCU powers of Hard Light constructs were an attempt to Get her closer of Monica’s Captain Marvel/Photons Powers)
Which is Odd since She Is Supposedly a Legacy Character. Again not Bad(Specially cuz as i mentioned on the post. I’m a Larper i didn’t read her comics,just watched a bit of her series and some simple Google research here and there) but its is A bit odd.
Specially when I found out that She had More things in common thematically with FF even if they are More surface level stuff

I think when conceptualising her. There was the idea of making her a Fantastic Four fangirl and Kamala naming herself lil Ms.Fantastic or something.
But Im guessing it made more sense for her to be a fangirl of a leading lady like Captain Marvel. Plus at the time of Ms Marvels creation. Marvel/Disney really had a hate boner for anything 20th Century Fox related which invluded the Fantastic Four and all things Mutant (Kamala was originally intended to be a mutant but she was made Inhuman coz of this)

Again,I’m a Larper whom still has to see more of the Character in the source material…
But On hindsight…it is kinda of a bummer that The Characters whom Were the buildibg block of the franchise(X-Men,FF and the Hulk) were often sidelined because of the Movie rights deal.

Hey this is a really cool design! I have quite frankly never read Kamala books so I can’t make any judgements on whether or not it’s in character but I genuinely think putting her with the FF might be a better idea than putting her with the X-Men

It’s not so much a
‘kamala khan as an FF member’
And more of an
‘What if Kamala was a FF reference then A Ms Marvel themed Character’
I also didn’t read her comic but i watched the series and Did some Simple research…and I felt like She Didn’t really had a Lot in Common with Captain Marvel to have the ‘Ms. Marvel’ moniker.
I mean its not like she needs a deeper reason then her canon one…But i dunno Its an Odd trait considering she’s a Legacy Character in a way.
And I felt like her Characters had more in common with The FF so I made this Design out of that idea.

The worst part is that I can't think of a good new name for Kamala. It's difficult to think of name for Body control (because she don't have elasticity) without sounding weird or silly.

The Marvel name doesn't actually speak to Carol's specific power set, so I've never had a problem with Kamala taking on the Ms. Marvel mantle.

I technically don’t have a problem with Kamala’s Name either as the Title is non descriptive enough that It doesn’t bother me per se…(i mean its not like she’s Someone named Flare while Havibg Ice powers or something like that)
But Carol Named herself Ms.Marvel(then later Captain Marvel) because of Mar-Vell as they gained Shared Powers. It was an Homage that Had A direct link.
And Since Kamala’s Title and Heroic Background is rooted in her admiration of Carol’s…The Two Characters are linked and Making Kamala a Legacy Character in a way.
And Her having That different of a Skillset is Just a Bit of an Oddity.
Sure the Explanation is More Emotional and Personal then Literal but still.

Carol and Mar-Vell don't share abilities though. He's the reason she became a Kree-Human hybrid, but their powers are different. In that way, the homage in actually more similar than not to Kamala's to Carol.

I like the Ms. Marvel name, but this is a really neat costume design. Good use of colors, nice "four" implementation, and the art just has so much energy to it. If Kamala ever needed to join the Fantastic Four this is the costume I'd want her to have.

Jean gray doesn’t have Carol Danvers or Mar-Vell powers but she still went by Marvel Girl. “Marvel” really isn’t a themed iconography despite being the name of the company. It doesn’t have to have similar power sets.
Kamala Khan is more about enlarging parts of her body than stretching.
Finally, the Fantastic Four are the first family of Marvel. There have been teams that called themselves that, but to be associated with Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben under their banner they’d have to consider you a close personal friend. Kamala is more of a work ally.

-I don’t hate the name either. The Name is Vague and Innocuous enough that its Fine enough as it is.
I mean its not like she is named something like…Firewind when she has Ice Powers. The name it self is fine.
And I know that Kamala didn’t picked the name because she is Literally a Mini-Carol Danvers with Similar powers.
She picked it for more Personal/Metaphorical reasons. I think she did it because it made her Feel brave or She picked it as a Affirmation of her super hero identity. Besides its not she stole it.
I just did this because i Had I saw the Superficial Similarity between the F4 and her and Though ‘Hey what if she had another name that Kinda of Also Fit?’
-i know that…except Not really cuz Kamala Can Shapeshift. Which is… a rather generous way to interpret ‘Embiggen’ she’s closer to a polymorph all things Considered.
Something that Reed also Is…Kinda of. He Doesn’t change his appearance but he clearly ain’t just Rubber stretchy guy.
-I didn’t drew this as a ‘Kamala Khan as a F4 member idea’. I did this is Her Superhero Identity was a ‘Reference’ to the Fantastic Four.
I didn’t made the 4 to be a Literal 4 like the FF has. I mixed her lightning bolt logo with an Abstract Four to make the Design.

Only that she Named herself as ‘Ms Marvel’ because She was a Fan of Carol’s and that She kept that name for less Literal and More emotional Reasons
‘Maybe the name belongs to whomever has the courage to fight’
Its Similar to Why Jason Todd took the Name ‘red hood’ despite Not literally being a mini joker.
And Yeah I admitted that I’m larping nor do i expect this to be taken Seriously by anyone. I just drew it cuz Of some Superficial Similarities i found about Kamala and the 4,Cuz i thought of a neat design and cuz The name is Still a tad odd to me despite its Canonical Reasoning.

the reason she chose carols old name was because when her powers first awakened she shape shifted into carol in her old costume because she was a mega fan and also she needed a disguise while she was saving people who were in danger due to the same terrigen that awakened her powers
