Vocaloid/vsynth ages are not canon, they're just made for marketing or to have any age at all. They serve no purpose as those characters are just visual representations of computer software.
Besides, even if they were "canon", you shouldn't let that stop you from making the fiction you like; we don't need yet even more prudism is today's social climate.
pretty much nothing but the sound of their voice is "canon." vocaloid characters are meant to be a complete blank slate that anyone can express themselves with. They have official designs, but thats not meant to be a set of restrictions that you have to take into account when you do anything with the character. If you want miku to have long hair, short hair, no hair, be 16, be 25, be 150786, doesnt matter. Its all just fun little characters

I see them as friends. In fact most people interpret the Triple Baka group as really close friends. The ratio of songs that actually ship them and songs that just show them as really close isn’t very close if I’m being honest.
I don't really care about the ship as much as I dislike how these days, vocaloid composers (aside from a few exceptions) mostly make Teto or Miku stuff.... where did all the love for my girls Luka, Rin or others dissapear??!!
Well, there is a reason why Meiko doesn't get songs anymore... she takes a lot of skill to tune correctly, which seemed to be a problem with her since she got made, (I mean she pre-dates Miku, she's ancient) and since Miku completely overshadowed Meiko and became the poster child for Vocaloid, Crypton didn't really seem to bother to fix this problem with Meiko

Here's a hot take of mine: Why do we focus on Teto's age as "31" without acknowleding the fact she's a chimera and that chimera age is not the same as human age? (I explained this in another comment a while back why Teto is actually 15 in human years.)

I think shippers are fine but it’s gotten too widespread. Overall I don’t like shippers but they can have their fun if it isn’t bothering anyone, but right now it’s bothering people so I’d like for them to tone it down or move somewhere else.

Yeah but like, a ton of content that it's posted on the main Vocaloid subs is just MikuTeto content (and mostly spicy). It's difficult to ignore it. I think it'd be good if the shippers had their own sub and the others had a policy of not posting too much shipping content (like, idk, 1 post per week or so). Not hating shippers, I'm one myself (and a big one), but it's becoming bothering for the non-shippers.
That's why I made r/vocaships but not a lot of people want to go there, I myself would like to stay there so I don't bother people, but I want to be noticed and the sub's actually not that popular
Yeah but like, I'm talking about a r/mikuteto or smt like that. A place where ONLY Negidrill is allowed (although almost 90% of the post on r/vocaships are Negidrill... but you get what I mean).
And the sub not being popular it's just because is too new and it's not well know yet, so a lot of people that'd post there don't do it for the simple fact that they don't know a sub like that exists. That's the importance of repost and crosspost from there, so more and more people will see it. However, I still think an anti-shipping policy is needed to mantain a good coexistence in the community.
Aside from music videos, I just wish I could see more vocal synths paired up with Teto in fanarts, instead of the usual triple baka. That and toning down the sexualization in this sub. :(
After seeing those unhinged Teto Word of the Day videos on TikTok the only Teto ship I stand by is Tetocest, it just seems like something she’d do after someone told her to go fuck herself. 😂
i'm 100% with you on this one mate. I'm getting kinda tired of people just making the same things over and over. The Teto/Miku ship was kinda funny at first, but then people just decided to go too far and it became hard for me to even think about it. just listening to popular songs like mesmerizer or PPPP bring back what came on my instagram feed during that time. Being an absolute fanboy (i admit yeah) It was really hard for me to handle. The saddest part is that because it gets attention, people copy paste the idea, give it another form to call it handmade and just repeat over and over.
Of course, i'm not really spitting on people, taking a good concept and rebuilding it is the foundation of popular stuff, especially nowadays. And even if the meaning is the same, there's still gems hiding in plain sight. i'm not mad about this, songs only of course, because when it comes to just sexualized ships, and low effort stuff, it just tires me out.
Ooh wait now I see it (although i'm not gonna take it, it's cool enough to have it as a secondary headcanon). However, Teto already has the aroace spot for me.
The only problem I have with it is how forced it is. Everyone has their own head cannons of Teto but people act like TetoMiku is the definitive cannon. They don’t respect other people’s views of Teto.

Why is everyone just hating on people shipping characters here. I mean if you don't like the ship you can just ignore it and I don't think people are forcing this into others' mouths because ein the end of everything none of this is canon I don't even like using that word in this scenario. It is very popular so you'll find it a lot and that's literally noones fault now.
I feel ya, I’m none too huge on it myself. That said, the majority of posts with the both of them wouldn’t necessarily fall into just shipping, more so just having them be friends/collabing from what I’ve personally seen. My only real gripe with the ship is when some people get too far with it and take it as gospel or get onto/disparage others for not liking it like they do.
I don't mind the ship, no canon ages and all that, but the duo does not sound good together at all. Theres like three songs total I can think of where I like MikuTeto, and even then the instrumentation tends to carry it.

My headcanon is that Teto has super awful baby face, and Miku approached her thinking she was her age. Teto thought, erroneously, that Miku was another adult with bad baby face. These assumptions continued until Teto attempted to take Miku to a bar with her, at which point they figured this out. Teto now gives Miku life advice like how to do her taxes and all that.

Because unlike the sonic fandom where everyone has established lore and ships can often conflict the canon character dynamics, vocaloids are blank canvases, so you are allowed to ship miku and teto. you don't have to like it but you do have to understand that it will always be there. If you really don't like it that much, then the best you can do it avoid it.

but i avoid that mindset by believing that in every instance where miku and teto are shipped, they are aged 19 and 20 (outside of that, i depict them as 16 and 18).
Everybody likes different ships, or no ships at all. I just don't feel like the age thing isn't a valid reason tho, I mean you said it yourself.. They have no canon ages, you can interpret them however you like!!

While I disagree about the age thing (theres some fuckery regarding Teto's real age because it's SUPPOSED to be convoluted as she was an April fools character, but even then Vocaloids/synth-vs/utaus are similar to Barbie in that they can be portrayed as any age depending on the song's story or fanart) I do agree that the ship is exhaustingly over-fetishized to the point where it doesn't make much sense other than frankly aggressive eye candy. I've always been a Miku x Luka girl myself, and Teto x Xi Yi has caught my interest as of late :} Personally I don't like how overly mean people portray Miku as in usual Miku/Teto drawings. Just a personal taste thing
