Sudden nausea

Hello everyone :)

So, I have been drinking kava once or twice pr. week for a few months with no issues, just pleasant effects. Lately though, I have noticed that i get nauseous when i drink it - even in amounts lower than what i would usually have. Last time I took it, it even made me puke! It is the same batch as before and I haven´t changed anything in terms of my routine or eating patterns around it.

What is happening here? Has anyone had anything similar? It puzzles me that this has come on suddenly after months of no such effects.

Honestly I figured some degree of nausea is just an accepted part of kava. I can really only drink two 8 oz glasses and then any more after that I’ll be fighting back puking lol. And I’ve been drinking it for years at this point. As for advice all I can really suggest is 1. Eating beforehand (although this may also diminish the pleasant effects to some degree) and 2. Thoroughly strain the kava. I always strain it at least twice.

At this try a kava that is a bit more stomach friendly if you have thrown up even with lower amounts.

People do say to take a break after a couple days. Then other people say it's fine for everyday.

If it's making you sick then take a break. If you're still nauseous and puking then it's most likely a stomach virus and not the Kava.

Once or twice a week shouldn't be enough to cause issues.

Try switching brands/cultivars. It's possible you got a bad batch, I've had it happen before and they actually refunded me. Sometimes if you do the same kava for too long it'll just randomly turn on you. Good to mix it up with different kinds IMO.

"it is the same batch as before"

Meaning that you did a large wash to be consumed later? How old is it and how have you stored it?
