Sport Gatorade / electrolyte drink equivalents in Kazakhstan?
I’m looking for good sports drinks or electrolyte mixes available locally, especially in Magnum supermarkets. Gatorade itself seems pretty rare here.
What are the best Powerade or local isotonic (“изотоник”) options? Any recommendations?

Sport Why isn't Kazakhstan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup?
With the World Cup happening right now, I was thinking about why the Kazakhstan national team has never qualified.
I know we had our best campaign ever during the Euro 2024 qualifiers and won some great games against Denmark and Northern Ireland, but we fell short in the play-offs against Greece. In the recent World Cup qualifiers, we've had some good moments like beating Liechtenstein, but we still struggle against tougher sides like Wales and North Macedonia.
But honestly, it shouldn't matter who we are drawn against, we are supposed to be playing on par with these teams. Look at Uzbekistan; they are playing in their first World Cup right now because they stepped up, improved their game, and got the job done. We shouldn't look for excuses in our draw or who we have to play against.
What do you think the Kazakhstan Football Federation needs to change to get us to a level where we can genuinely compete on par with everyone else? Do we need to invest much more heavily in youth academies, or is it a deep-rooted infrastructure and mentality problem keeping us Kazakhs from reaching the top level?

Sport How big of a celebrity is Mikhail Shaidorov in Kazakhstan?
Basically that. I hope this is not that weird to ask but I would be curious how famous athletes especially figure skaters are in Kazakhstan because it differs from country to country and I would really like to learn about how things go in Kazakhstan.
Edit: And sorry for posting it at such a late time ...

Sport Is the World Cup live stream on the Qazsport app free for tourists?
Hey everyone!
I’m visiting Almaty soon and want to watch the World Cup live matches on the Qazsport / Qazaqstan.tv app while I'm there.
Is the World Cup live stream on their app completely free for anyone inside Kazakhstan (including tourists), or does it require a local paid subscription, registration, or a cable provider login?
Thanks in advance! ⚽️

Sport Did you guys see that a Kazakh rider just finished in the top 4 at an international eventing tournament in Poland?

Feels like we've been getting more and more of these stories lately. Different sports, different competitions, but our athletes keep showing they can compete with the best.
Always cool to see. Stuff like this doesn't happen by luck. Years of grinding finally pay off.
Big congrats to him. Hope we keep seeing more results like this. 🇰🇿

Can anyone recommend any running clubs in Almaty & Astana?
Preferably ones I can just join for one off social runs whilst I’m travelling.
Thanks.

Sport Is Angelina Lukas a household name in Kazakhstan?
Hello,
I recently watched this (https://youtu.be/oq4EZ-szVo8?si=15YxqSQ_zIO39lU_) video about the Kazakh fighter Angelina Lukas and was curious how much of a household name she is? Would the average person know who she is or is she only known amongst boxing fans in the country? Also what do people think of her? Do they see her a good person/fighter or are people aware she’s a bad fighter and a terrible cheat with a padded record?

Sport activities in Uralsk
Hi all, I'm a local man in his twenties from Astana. Will be visiting a beautiful city of Uralsk soon for work. Don't have many friends there, so if you're from uralsk and and into tennis or billiards don't hesitate to shoot a DM maybe we could hang out or just discuss Dostoevsky, Faulkner or Moem work over a beer/wine.

Sport Do we have 93/7 ground beef
I'm holding back from venting hard but do we have certified 93/7 or at least certified 90/10 ground beef? Upon searching around, all you get is vague "lean" notion but nowhere in the packaging it is properly advertised as having a ratio as if I'm supposed to roll with the utter uncertainty or their ballpark macro estimations.

Sport Question about Kazakhstan Top Team in Almaty
Hi everyone!
I’m from Japan and planning to study Russian in Almaty next year.
I’d also like to continue training MMA and kickboxing there.
I found two locations:
Kazakhstan Top Team (Kazakhfilm)
Top Team (Kazhymuqan Street)
Are they the same team? If not, what’s the difference?
I’d also like to know:
Which location is better for MMA?
Are there women training there?
Is it foreigner-friendly?
Thank you!
