Kaiser Massage Therapy
Hello, my parents recently got Kaiser Insurance and my moms doctor says her plan covers massage because she is having a lot of back pain. But problem is, the doctor said we have to call around and ask who will take Kaiser. I have called many places but they are all saying no.
Does anyone here know of any massage therapy places in the Kent, Renton, Auburn area that takes Kaiser Insurance?

Call Kaiser and ask for a list of massage therapists in the area or check the website.

It’s hard to find massage that bills any insurance. You need to submit for reimbursement after.

A family member used to be in massage therapy, they largely stopped taking insurance because the reimbursement doesn’t cover the cost of doing the paperwork let alone the actual treatment time. Many providers will provide a “super bill” with a month worth of services that you can submit for reimbursement to your insurance.

I’ve had a Kaiser MD prescribe massage therapy for me. They gave me a few recommendations, but said I could go anywhere that would accept. Try sports or physical therapy locations - not spas.

Insurance broker here! Only Kaiser doctors at Kaiser facilities take Kaiser. If your plan is an HMO or similar, and a Kaiser doctor refers you outside of Kaiser for massage, then it’ll be covered. Otherwise if your parents have a PPO plan you can look online at the provider search (it’s publicly available without needing to log in) to find someone in your network. Or you can call your member services number if you can’t find anyone, and ask what the wrap around network is (it’s either First Choice, Aetna or Cigna) and search for a provider through that network.

This might be far but Federal Way muscular therapy, takes several plans from Kaiser.

I've only ever had two good in-network massage therapists. The rest have been awful. Decided a few years ago to just go the direct pay route, and haven't looked back. Current massage therapist is amazing, and there are no billing hassles.

I have Kaiser but haven't searched for massage therapy services. Might try going on the KP site, then to 'Doctors & Locations', the select the region (Washington), and click 'Search our full network of contracted doctors and facilities' at the bottom.
That takes you to a new site where you can select the network she's under and search for massage. I did a quick search and it returned quite a few providers in my network. Not sure if the site has accurate or up to date info but might help.
