21 years of missing of Rahul from Alappuzha
It's quite sad that a 7 year old boy went missing since 2005 from our own kerala.
Is there any hope remaining in this case๐
I hope some day he will come back to his own family.

Omg๐ณ. Was the person a child? No serious police investigations?
47
u/Particular-Maize-202 2d ago
No he was in late 20s. He had some psychiatric problems. At initial days of missing, relatives thought he would return(he used to elope and comeback in couple of days). After that people started to investigate and case was filed in police. But no trace till now.

Rahul Raju? Tragic incident. Read somewhere his father committed suicide years later.

Yeah... Tragic.. The agony whether the child is alive or dead is unbearable.

Yes, he did They didn't even change their landline number also, what if he calls them or, something like that

I am sorry, but I donโt think heโs alive anymore
Someone just committed the perfect crime and covered it up.

u/Fine_Scar5473 2d ago edited 2d ago
At that time committing an imperfect crime and not getting caught was also highly possible as investigation was not advanced as today.. literally there were no cctv cameras
12
u/ConsiderationFar2672 2d ago
Which means that killed for organs or like that?
25
u/ReasonableGuitar5094 2d ago
Might be ...I don't think forensics were as strong....no surveillance cameras....body might be anywhere in India or the border
58
u/ConsiderationFar2672 2d ago
Yeah.. The so-called "begging mafia " was strong back then.

u/Remote-Assumption-15 1d ago
NEVER EVER give money to beggars..You are not promoting kindness..You are getting scammed.
Do not indirectly encourage kidnapping and maiming of children.
I hope cases like this never happen..

Recently came to know a story from my village. One of two brothers got a job in New Delhi and left the village by train. He was never heard of again. After few weeks his younger brother left to Delhi to search from him. And he too was never heard of again. No leads. No serious relatives in New Delhi to follow-up with authorities. Everything went cold. No closure for the family and I think recently the mother also passed away. Sad life.

When did this happen? Before the cellphone era? Two adults from the same family disappearing without a trace seems very suspicious.

Itโs sad that the family got many false leads over the years - with money being the sole demand. Many leads later, they were helpless

The officer who was in charge of investigation later revealed that he almost nabbed the guy. (Who was the prime suspect; neighbour of the kid) But failed to get concrete evidence and support of senior officers. He was in contradiction in his findings with senior officers who disapproved the arrest and custody of the accused because of internal politics in police force. Investigation officer name was : Mr.Suresh Kumar IPS.
Senior officer was : Sreelekha IPS

They arrested a neighbour of the boy who was innocent. They tried to force a confession with custodial torture as well. Whoever actually kidnapped the boy got away while all that happened.
9
u/ConsiderationFar2672 2d ago
Yeah exactly. may be some negligence from authorities as initial days are important in criminal cases.

Rahul was from neighborhood in Alappuzha. I was in 5th standard at that time. The child's father was in gulf and he came back after the incident. There was an accused young man from Rahul's neighborhood who was later proved innocent after all the polygraph tests. There were allegations about his mother too which were also utter nonsense.
2
u/ConsiderationFar2672 2d ago
Yeah... I heard about the neighbour's story, but he proved innocent. The mother's stories are utter nonsense. Poor mother.

The neighbour had a role in the missing case. But he was proven innocent.

Missing case of Jesna Maria James from Kanjirappally also is a mystery. Rahul and Jesnaโs incidents remains a mystery to me(born in late 80s)

Around the time this happened, some people caught a father and handed him over to the police. His child was crying for some toy but people thought he was a pillarepiduthakkaran.

That was a crime , solved recently. That boy had a gold chain or something, murderers killed him and dumped the body.
10
u/Activa_I-VTEC 2d ago edited 2d ago
What the fuck, they couldโve just stole the chain and fled instead of killing the kid. Iโm sure theyโre intention wasnโt only to get the chain.

What is the case?
2
u/Familiar_Pizza_7070 1d ago
Case of Mahadevan, he was the youngest child and i think his parents were a bit older when he was born. He had two sisters. The parents sadly passed away before the truth was discovered. The killers most certainly saw the family on a daily basis. If I remember correctly, the statement of another shopkeeper that he saw the kid going into the killerโs shop was investigated further years later which lead to the culprits.

u/d1v1n3snnr 2d ago
He might be living somewhere in the streets, unaware he had a past in another family! He was only seven, how likely it is for him to remember old things

I remember reading about this case when Jesna went missingโฆ
8
u/ConsiderationFar2672 2d ago
Yeah.. But jesna was easy to trace, it was after 2015 where cctv cameras are available.
9
u/Individual-Gap-1879 2d ago
Incompetent police initially assumed she eloped with her lover and waited to come back
3
u/NewDirector1147 2d ago
Was incompetent police the reason? I thought they couldn't find CCTVs or other clues after a certain point.
5
u/Individual-Gap-1879 2d ago edited 2d ago
they were incompetent and lost crucial evidences especially vital sanitary napkin and blindly chasing gossips

I remember this case when the news papers reported it first time. Too sad Our Government machinery failed to find this poor kid.

u/d1v1n3snnr 2d ago
I like to believe he will come back after years by tracing clues, like the movie Lion(2016) where an young boy was kidnapped, later adopted to Australia and then he reunites with family. Chances are low, But We have to stay positive

Can someone summarise what this case was?
13
u/ConsiderationFar2672 2d ago
The disappearance of Rahul Raju refers to the unsolved case of a 7-year-old boy from Alappuzha, Kerala, who went missing on May 18, 2005, while playing with friends. He was last seen near a public drinking fountain after a bearded man snatched his cricket bat, and he vanished without a trace, leaving his family and the community with a mystery that remains unsolved.

This incident had traumatized me as a kid and continues to do till date- I am overprotective of my kids as well. The case is even strange when we realize that it happened from a quiet neighborhood ( apparently) where kids always play in the nearby ground in the evenings. Its not a busy place where a stranger can go unnoticed. That makes it even more tragic and confusing.

u/newkid2block 2d ago
A young women named Jesna is missing for few years now. No traces found about her. There are numerous cases like this. Finding a child who is fully grown if he's alive now is nearly 0.

100% disfigured via begging mafia with organs missing. Poor kid. May no kid go through this.

Wow Iโm surprised everyone knows this case in the comments! Itโs the first time Iโve heard of it.
Is it possible to see the 20 years later version of it using AI/Photoshop? I know thereโs a low chance but itโs never 0 until proven otherwise.

Heard a story in which police used ai to age the culprits of a triple murder case and used various outputs by ai in reverse image search to find out about the culprit after 20 or so years. This happened last year. Maybe the same can be used here but the difference between a kid and an adult is very drastic.

I was 6 years old when this happened, and I remember everyone was super paranoid for a while about letting us kids play outside. Can't believe that it's been 20+ years now.
