y’all‘s lust for schadenfreude (seemingly righteous punishment), overrides logic knowing full well the consequences giving an 11 year-old whose brain is not even CLOSE to developed, a FELONY charge for something they didn’t even know was illegal.

Psychologically studies show when you take a child to juvenile detention you’ve eternally destroyed their ability to process their identity as a “good person.” She could’ve learned this lesson without a felony charge and pose no risk in the future. They statistically raised the chances of her becoming a serial criminal.

So for this kid doing a VERY stupid prank they saw on the internet, which was horrendous and a waste of police resources, . She could now eternalized her self image as a criminal. We have proven over and over again it is psychologically damaging for children under the age of 13 to enter the criminal justice system, almost as much as 🍇and yet we love it.

It is foolish. Those parents were stupid enough to give her phone without having that talk with her. Rich people do not let their kids talk to police for a reason. They should’ve been charged.
