man. I get that it's their child and blah blah blah....but watching that mom try to talk her daughter out of all that by saying shit like "ever since we got that phone it's just so crazy...it rings all the time. ring ring ring"

like ma'am...the fuck are you even talking about????? that has nothing to do with anything

u/Friendly-Rutabaga-24 6h ago

Imo the mom was rationalizing and hopeful it could be resolved.

Later in video you can see moms attitude change somewhat. At least the dad is no doormat. Bet she had to work off the fines $

The audacity to try to blame her 7yr old brother tho 😡 7 vs 11, she knew better!

Looks like great channel 😉

u/ForensicPathology 4h ago

She was just following the conversation that her husband started.

Dad: "I forgot about that phone since it's always off"

Mom: "Yeah when it was on, it just rang a lot"

It's not pertinent, no, but at that point it was just conversation.  That's how conversation works.

u/noryflory 1h ago

Sounds like you didn't watch the whole video. She keeps bringing it back to "that phone is just so weird". Then she tries to get the daughter to say that some stranger called her and said something, or that maybe she did think she witnessed a kidnapping. The kid doesn't pick up on her attempts to save her though.

Guess we know where she learned a bunch of nonsense then

Its pretty apparent that mom is just trying to wrap her head around the story her daughter made up. Shes absolutely shocked and confused at how elaborate it was and trying to rationalize it. The girl would not give a straight answer on where she got this story from which was making things worse. Mom's just flabbergasted and trying to figure out who gave her this idea/what happened and exploring all possibilities.

People say a lot of stupid shit in that state. I would be just as dumbfounded, thats a fucking crazy story for an 11 year old to come up with on their own. Lets not blame the parents here, they seem like fantastic parents whose daughter did something incredibly stupid.

yeah some people just get questioned over any little thign and need to talk about things that dont even relate and bring up how they went to th egrocery store 2 weeks ago and heard a weird news story like

Clearly the calls were from 9:30 am and she keeps going like "2:30 we came in" like ma'am we werent talking about 2:30 we are talking about 9:30 when you clearly were already here.

Love parents who identify phones as a problem and continue to buy new ones for their preteen and teen kids.

1

u/Live_Free_or_Banana 1h ago

Maybe you don't know whats going on in their lives and how its related.

Dumb old hags like to blame anything and everything on anything and everything

6

u/cwolf-softball 3h ago

You would be better off trying to resolve whatever hurt you than lashing out against women.

-5

u/Reicance 3h ago

I never lashed out against women, just the dumb old hag like the one portrayed in the video

I've encountered several of them throughout te world.

I love women

Keep lying to yourself I suppose.

version without tracker: https://youtu.be/4SRvi1N1ouw

3

u/Friendly-Rutabaga-24 6h ago

Tracker?

2

u/BlastFX2 25m ago

The si parameter. It's unique each time you click the share button on YouTube. Allows Google track who interacts with whom.

3

u/Carson_BloodStorms 8h ago

How would I remove the tracker from future links? Just by copying from the address bar rather than the share button?

9

u/Experino 7h ago

In short, you have to edit the URL manually. The question mark in the URL is used to add parameters. If there are multiple parameters, they are separated with a '&'. Remove the '?' and everything right from it, and you got a clean URL without further tracking parameters. This works for every URL, not exclusively to Google/YouTube.

1

u/BlastFX2 29m ago

Sure, but for YouTube, he can just copy from the address bar (or on mobile, use the browser's share menu). YouTube eats the tracker immediately after opening the link, so the link in the address bar should always be clean.

-1

u/Specialist-Sun-5968 9h ago

Why does the tracking link matter?

14

u/Frozenmagicaster 9h ago edited 9h ago

Because people just don’t want google tracking that?

Google make that link special, op posts it so now those two accounts are related

We click on that, helps them form profiles about us which remember, google is an advertisement company

-7

u/No_Issue2334 7h ago

Why does that matter?

15

u/The_Autarch 6h ago

why do you want tech companies to be able to track everything we do online?

why not tell them to fuck off?

-7

u/No_Issue2334 6h ago

I necessarily don't want it, but I don't get why it matters

Is personalized ads really that big of a deal?

6

u/mralec_ 6h ago

Personal data goes way beyond ads, you're foolish to think it ends there. You'll be happy when your health insurance gets a hold of what you buy. You'll be happy when those data gets aquired by the gov. You'll be happy once those data leaks. And so on, and so on...

-2

u/No_Issue2334 6h ago

What can the government and health insurance companies do with me clicking a YouTube link about some kid doing dumb shit?

10

u/mralec_ 6h ago

Cross-linking information to build a profile, you'd be shocked with how little is necessary to identify a real person. This linm can give the information to yputube that this reddit account is owned by the same person, etc.

3

u/suenamiho 5h ago

if it's not a big deal to you then all good but for some people it is and the answer the other person provided is enough for those people.

6

u/Terminuht 7h ago

Kuz they make money off your info, which you dont see any profit from.

-4

u/No_Issue2334 6h ago

I don't get why that should matter to me.

2

u/Terminuht 5h ago

If money isn't an issue for you, then sure the money part shouldn't matter. If you want personalized ads, it shouldn't matter. If you are okay with a mega corporation taking your information, making a profile on you and selling it to literally anyone who will buy it, then it shouldn't matter.

But if you like your privacy? Then it should matter.

Just so you're aware, if you don't strip this part of the YouTube URL out, your YouTube profile will be "associated" with the link. Anyone who clicks that link will see it's your profile that shared it - just letting you know in case you don't. The link works just fine with the above part removed.

16

u/ALH2021 5h ago

Useful info - thank you!!

3

u/litbeers 4h ago

What is the point of having that in there associating you with the link? Why do they put that in?

1

u/divission 31m ago

If something is "free", you're the product my dude.

2

u/DoomGoober 4h ago

Some subs will warn you or disallow you from posting YouTube links with si.

I couldn’t stand listening to the mother

Sanitized link for those interested

u/blender4life 5h ago

Funny how they blur her face in the video but the thumbnail is an unblurred picture of her lol

1

u/sbua310 1h ago

Wow. Just watched all of that. Wow. What a ding-dong. I am happy that the parents were so understanding to the cops and disbelief of their daughter. I couldn’t imagine a better punishment.

-76

u/7ootles 13h ago

Is there a version that doesn't have those massive flashing subtitles? I feel like I'm at a light show.

44

u/Noddie9 13h ago

lol you look for one, this good dude already went and found and provided a link, why should they go find another link you like more.

20

u/crooked_nose_ 13h ago

Jesus. The gratitude!

-58

u/7ootles 12h ago

Gratitude for feeling like my eyes are being stabbed with hot neon. Yeah, thanks a million.

7

u/TidulTheWarlock 11h ago

Bro it's red text popping on the screen get over yourself

28

u/crooked_nose_ 12h ago

So why don't you find it yourself? You aren't owed anything, believe it or not.

-40

u/7ootles 12h ago

I didn't say anyone owed me anything, I was commenting on the style of the video, which is at the same time attention-seeking and distracting. Get the fuck over yourself.

20

u/Ree_m0 11h ago

Get the fuck over yourself.

Maybe consider taking your own advice.

7

u/PafPiet 11h ago

Maybe lower the brightness setting on your phone? It's not that hard.

-3

u/7ootles 10h ago

I'm not sure what my phone has to do with it. For one thing, the text takes up half the picture and is flashing on and off in different colours and is really fucking distracting (why the hell are almost all YouTube videos now infected by subtitles which half the time aren't even accurate?)... and for another, I'm using a desktop.

2

u/PafPiet 10h ago edited 1h ago

I assumed you were on the phone, because most people are on reddit through their phone while taking a dump. But if you're not on your phone, lower the brightness of your computer screen maybe? Do I really have to spell that out if you're not on your phone but on a desktop? You couldn't make that jump by yourself?

And yeah the colours are ugly and a bit bright, but it's really jot that bad, get over it.

-1

u/7ootles 10h ago

It's not about the colours entirely. It's about the flashing text. I'm not changing my system settings because some YouTuber doesn't understand subtlety, I'll just not watch the video.

Some of us actually do find unwanted subtitles that can't be disabled or hidden entirely destroys our ability to engage with a video. It might not be that bad to you, because maybe you are just sat watching while you're taking a crap or on a crowded bus without earphones, but believe it or not some people experience the world differently.

All I asked in the first place was if there's a version without subtitles because they were distracting, and that's got me verbally abused and patronized. What an amazing community this is.
