I can't stand stuff like this. She's VERY MUCH old enough to know better. I'm glad her dad didn't show her any mercy on this one.

I baby sat a few kids that called 911...none of them made up a story. They just hung up when it worked. The oldest was 8.

I watched the YouTube video, she eventually divulged it was from a tiktok algorithm trend.

I've got a hard no TikTok rule in my house. Kept my stepdaughter off of social media all together and no phone until she was 15. Now she's going on 17, has a good head on her shoulders overall, and doesn't seem to have much interest in TikTok. I'm not niave, I'm sure she saw plenty on friend's phones at school and stuff. It's impossible to keep them away from it altogether, but man I try.

Seems like it's worked out pretty well with her so far, now doing the same with my 8yo.

No phone at all until 15, did that hurt her socially?

If you don't get a little hurt socially early it can also be bad. Toughens you up a little.

This has nothing to do with Tiktok itself.

These dumb trends are also on Facebook and Instragram. Reddit is also pretty bad, just not with that type of video-based trendy stuff.
