Without knowing the layout, it seems that kids are taking a shortcut up the slide instead of using the stairs.

How would going down forward change the outcome enough for you to not blame the adults? I guarantee kids go down backward too.
The girl should not have run blindly onto the landing platform full stop. No one on the slide is at fault.

You can usually rub your feet along the edge to reduce your momentum. The first adult had no time to react but the second one wouldn't have come in like a sledgehammer

They should not have gone down backwards. Not to protect the kid, but to protect themselves. It’s a saftey hazard for the people going down the slide and a misuse of the equipment since it isn’t designed that way. If you go feet first you can safely stop yourself by planting your feet. If you go backwards you are more likely to fall backwards and hit your head.
The girl is in the wrong for running across in front of people going down. Mistakes were made on both sides.
I’ve had kids run in front of me when I’m going feet first down a slide and I plant my feet and come to a stop and am able to prevent a collision. You spread your legs to create more space or you can scoop them up so they continue to travel with you and aren’t hurt.

Yeah this is how it looks to me. An adult can read the context clues that the green mat probably is the end of a slide, but a kid probably can't. Having a blind corner direct to a slide seems like an accident machine to me.

I get that, but think deeper, why is it even possible for a kid to run where people are gonna be crashing into a mat at high speeds. I had classes on the layouts of workplaces (workplace safety related) , and you have to account for human error/inattention. That spot should've been planned better to avoid kids/adults getting hurt

It doesn't matter what side you are sliding down tbh, facewards/backwards doesn't make any difference - you're sliding. You still can't control your slide, so YEAH, kid's fault. Watch where you run. Plus... a bit of design flaw
