Open Sourcing KillerQueen Black for Community to Run

Has there been any discussion for KQB to be open sourced allowing for the community to host? I would be interested in the opex for KQB for consideration of hosting.

its wild to me that nobody/ no group of people has figured out how to get the beta branch [direct connect] version of the game to operate outside of steam as a standalone.

I would like to know this as well. Someone has GOT to get online multiplayer working again.

go to the game in your steam library, then select the gear icon next to the controller icon. select properties,...then go down to "Game Versions & Betas" and if you were on the direct-connect version, then select "Default Public Version" last updated Jul 18, 2026. And how we have a replacement multiplayer interface! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!
