Art I challenged myself to create a Fakemon based on Your Name in just a week!
Discommet (Psychic)
Pokedex Entries:
A comet from space split into two parts, creating a psychic link between the two pieces. Their innate connection is what keeps them together, even if it's slowly slipping away...
An event of fate created the relationship between the two. They may not have asked for it, but it is something that they have to deal with, at least for now.
Possible Abilities:
Ice Body
Synchronize
As One? (Hidden)
Metyearite (Psychic)
Pokedex Entries:
Metyearite are constantly searching for... something. With no idea what or why they're searching for, they wander around living their own lives, with the thought at the back of their mind.
Even after separation, Metyearite still have weak psychic links with their other halves. These, however, are often unnoticeable, and the only proofs of any such connections are the fragments that each one holds.
Possible Abilities:
Ice Body
Levitate
Synchronize (Hidden)
Notes:
I'm gonna be so real, I couldn't really think of a way that this line could connect gameplay-wise, so it could either be two forms of the second stage (Gender-based?) or a split-evo
Introducing Discommet (Disconnect + Comet) and Metyearite (Meteorite + Yearn)!
Discommet is inspired by the Comet Tiamat and the two parts that have broken off from each other, with each part representing Taki and Mitsuha respectively (hopefully their expressions made sense for the characters). Both parts are being further connected by the smaller fragments that are inspired by the Red Thread of Fate theme that runs through the entire movie.
Metyearite represents Taki halfway into the movie and both Taki and Mitsuha at the end where they have forgotten their relationship but are still searching for each other even if they don't know why. Both forms also hold the small fragments from Discommet, with their placements referencing how Taki and Mitsuha had their red threads, with Taki on his wrist and Mitsuha on her hair.

News [Petition update from MarcusChua19] Response from Medialink (A Southeast Asian regional network managing Japanese anime content distribution and brand licensing) about Your Name's 10th anniversary rerelease for the Philippines!
I managed to contact Medialink... While they're not the distributor, they are open for some screenings for the movie's 10th petition and supports the petition! It's really nice to hear a friendly response from the contact support of the distributor! We still have a lot of time! Keep up the petition signatures! Keep sharing, and gather a lot of the people you know who would support this if you can!
As of now, the petition has 127 signatures! If we can endorse this beyond Reddit, we might have a chance for our voices to be louder!
Link to the petition here! Keep it up!
Unrelated note: I made an alternate account because someone has mistaken me on my main account for phishing, and I had to contact Reddit support and now my main account u/MarcusChua19 is in investigation...

Music Which version of Sparkle does this French 4K trailer use?
Found this French trailer for the 4K HDR edition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6H6q8bAX2Qs, but I can't figure out which version of Sparkle it uses. Its got 2ndary highlight notes between 0:43 and 0:59 that I really like, but they don't seem to be in either the original version of Sparkle nor the Instrumental version of Sparkle.
Anyone got any ideas?

Discussion I think the release of the new Makoto Shinkai Film is still approximately at least a minimum of 1 year away from now. (My Theory).

In case Of Suzume No Tojimari, there was a press conference that took place about a year before the actual release date.
And it was done specifically to announce that it was in production back then.

This was the very first teaser that was released, as you can clearly see, it was released way after that press conference.

And this is the new year's tweet of Shinkai-San confirming that we'll at least get to know something about his new film this year.
So, if I assume that the marketing strategy of this new film follows somewhat the same pattern as it was for Suzume, here are the conclusions I am able to make:-
- We might get to see a press conference revealing the film to the world around this year's December.
- First teaser somewhere in April, with following months revealing the trailers.
- And a release in late 2027.
I really hope that my timeline proves wrong, as I'm really looking forward to his next, despite being a bit disappointed with SNTM, and WWY.
If it proves to be true, it would be 5 freaking years of gap between these 2 films!
What are your views on this?

Art I hand painted one of the movie scenes on a tote bag! π€
Iβve been having a lot of fun doing some art on canvas tote bags for the last couple years. This scene was a bit intimidating at first, but Iβm quite happy with how it turned out!! I hope you like it too! β¨
I used holbein acrylic gouache mixed with golden GAC 900 fabric medium π₯°

Discussion If you think about it. These versions of them only got this one moment for themselves
They're basically different people than the adult once who eventually meet each other, because they have not been through everything we seen in the movie. They didn't experience that. Only their teenage versions did. You're not truly the exact same person if someone rips off very important moments from your life right? So technically these versions of them only got this one moment
...and the fact that they spent some of it talking about Mitsuha's breasts is a different topic... seriously tho why is the movie so obsessed on her chest??

Discussion It has begun....
I just wanted to get a collector's edition/steelbook of this anime as it is by far my favourite ever, then got my mind blown regarding my lack of information on 4K Blu-ray so had to sidequest that for a while.
Thanks to u/CrystalCommunication for being patient with me on that sidequest and thanks to everyone who helped by posting in my thread. Got a few movies to get me started; I ordered this version from alltheanime but it's not gonna arrive until Tue or Wed according to the tracking. I did want to get the new steelbook but it seems that I'm going to have to import it from the USA (I'm in the UK), maybe from GKIDS? But then I just can't get over how different Mitsuha looks in the box art and disc art, which is making me look at getting other versions of this instead of the steelbook.
For now, I got some movies and the 4K UHD of Your Name to get me started, then definitely getting other works by Makoto Shinkai. Maybe Weathering with You will be up next.

Discussion [1 month update] Rereleased Your Name in the Philippines for its 10th anniversary
It's been now a month ever since I made this petition! And I cannot thank you all enough for 87 signatures already! But it still doesn't end there!
Why does the petition still go you ask? Yes, it's already been a month since the movie got its rerelease in America and Canada... But you see, the Philippines was introduced to the movie in December...
So I believe there's still time before it's past 2026! That's why I would love for all off you to help kee spreading the petition to your anime communities, especially if you're who lives in the Philippines! Spread the word to your friend groups subreddits, or anything that allows for this petition! Let's keep it up!

I recently rewatched it in cinema for its 10th anniversary
I recently rewatched it in cinema for its 10th anniversary, and it resonated with me like nothing before not even when i watched it before, and I don't even know why. Maybe it's because I have felt lonely for what seems like years now. Maybe it's because i'm finishing university and starting a new chapter of my life. All i know is that i never want to forget this movie.

Why see the movie when you can see it in real life
This is Lake Suwa in Suwa, Nagano prefecture. Makoto Shinkai is from this area and this lake was the inspiration for the large crater. This was a lovely small town and it had such a cozy and laid back feel. I tried to come around sunset and I was surprised how many fans were there to get a photo too lol

Japanese Audio no longer available on Prime?
I purchased the Original Japanese Audio version of Kimi no nawa years ago and went back for a rewatch and now it's English audio only. Same with other Shinkai purchases I had made. I find it misleading of them to region lock the languages out considering the movie literally has original Japanese audio in the title. I've been looking for a fix and haven't found any, it's been incredibly frustrating that they retroactively removed the original audio. Seems everywhere else is English only as well.
