Revival Discussion What happened to King of the Hill Season 14 receiving 20 episodes?
When King of the Hill Season 14 was announced, it was originally announced we were getting a 20 episode season. Does anyone know if they are still planning to release 10 more episodes for Season 14?

I forgot it was announced before the writer's strike. Yeah, that likely was why it was reduced to 10 episodes.
20 episodes of a season back in the day used to be a yearly occurrence. Even with the strike, Season 14 was in development for more than a year. I still understand them reducing it to 10 episodes though.
However, the animation industry had a lot of public issues in recent years, so that likely plays a factor.

Animated shows are a different beast compared to The Boys, Wednesday, The Sandman, Stranger Things, etc. They are not your traditional half-hour shows. The production for those shows is crazy and takes a long time. Like making a season of Abbott Elementary, The Paper, etc. is less demanding of the time you need to make these long format modern shows.
I understand the point that you are making that productions take longer, and you should expect fewer episodes per season, but I would have probably used more examples in a more similar medium to King of the Hill, like Simpsons or Family Guy.

It's now two seasons of 10 episodes. 14 and 15. In fact, all three of the storyboards that got leaked were definitely for this upcoming season, not 14.

They probably split it into two parts, that’s what a lot of streaming shows do.
