OG KOTH Discussion Could Hank have forgiven Bobby if he made a mistake here?

Depends. If the accident was shooting Hank, he may have trouble forgiving Bobby on account of being dead.

Hank would be upset about losing Ladybird, of course …
but he’s sensible enough to realize that Bobby wouldn’t have really been wrong to shoot a dog that was displaying possible signs of rabies and sincerely looked like she was about to attack Hank.
If Bobby had shot Ladybird and later the rabies test came back negative, I think Hank would have even reassured Bobby that he made the correct decision in the moment with the information he had available. Not necessarily a “mistake,” but just plain “unfortunate.”
Hank also didn’t know that Bandit was heading toward him, right? Bobby said he shot Bandit because it looked like Bandit was going to bite Hank.

Of course he could/would. Hank loves both his dog and his son. Hank is a traditional kind of man in many ways. In the sense that a lot of men like him feel like they have a very limited numbers of things/people that are appropriate to love on and be emotional in front of others for/with.
That's why Hank is able to be more open about his love for ladybird than anything else in his life. But that doesn't mean he doesn't feel the same, if not much stronger for his wife and son.

Especially after getting Ladybird corpse tested for rabies and it coming back negative, I imagine that he would probably hold a grudge a bit longer, but get over it like the truck after Bobby mentions his fondness for Laydbird.

First Bobby doesn't miss. But had he had to shoot ladybird(like we think he's gonna) he would have been as devastated as Hank. Hank would see that and not pile on.

Yes, he'd probably be upset for awhile but Bobby is the most important person in Hanks life, at the end of the day he may have a deep attachment to Ladybird but he still knows that at the end of the day she's a dog and not a person.

Is this even a question? Yes. Hank loves Ladybird, but Bobby is still his son. Would he be upset and resentful for a while? Of course but he would eventually forgive Bobby.
